According to the ACA B.6 e. Counselors provide reasonable access to records and copies of records when requested by competent clients. In the scenario, the counselor seems hesitant in giving access to the client to obtain her record records. This standard was violated because it seems like the client has to defend herself when she ask for her record. Instead of being told yes she will get her record, I(the counselor) made it seem like, giving her the record, would not be to her benefit.
Standard B.6.f. states when clients request access to their records, counselors provide assistance and consultation in interpreting
counseling records. There was no observation of the client being assisted or being offered assistance of understanding how to get her record or how to understand it.
Federal code: 45 C.F.R. § 164.524(a)(1) (Security and Privacy, 2014) mandates that clients have a right of access to their records.
45 C.F.R. 164.524(b)(2) (Security and Privacy, 2014) mandates that providers give clients access to the designated record set within 30 days from the request.
Step 2: Apply ACA Standards & State Codes
The ACA moral that apply or lacking in the sense of the scenario presented in the video is fidelity. according to the ACA moral fidelity is defined as the notions of loyalty, faithfulness, and honoring commitments One of the most difficult tasks as a counselor is to bear the hopelessness and anger of a client. This is evident in the case of Who record. Fidelity is not present with the counselor. As counselors, we have to make sure we are showing respect and love to our client. The client ability to choose was undermine by her counselor.

I will consult my director/supervisor who has 38 years of experience in counseling as well as other career experience that gave him a great deal of knowledge. Also, he has more understanding of the codes of ethic and the principle that I as a counselor have to upkeep. Step 3: Nature & Dimensions
Moving forward with my client, I will the possibility of keeping our session and gaining her feedback as to how I can improve on helping her.
If she still feels she want to see another counselor, I will make sure she know I will do my best to refer her to a good experienced counselor.
Also, I will reassure her that I will give her any record I have on her because it is her right.
I will also provide help with understanding her records if she needs it. Step 4: Potential Courses of Action

Step 5a: Potential Consequences of Each Action
I feel the consequence to sitting with my client and addressing the ways that I can improve on my service to her can go passivity or negatively. The outcome can either be we continue our sessions or she can say I really don’t want to continue.
Step 5b: Action Chosen
I have decided to go ahead and put in a referral to another counselor as well as provide her with her file. I respect my client decision and I will make sure I accommoate her in her journey for help.
Step 6: Evaluate Course of Action
By taking to the client and reassuring her that I am here to
help her, and also apologizing for not meeting her where she is and providing access to her file, I truly felt we have resolve our issues. The client main problem was she feels she was not getting the help from me and she wants her file.

There is really no steps to take, my approach to solving this dilemma, is to sit with my client and have a conversation with her. Also sitting wit
h her and go over possible counselor that she may be interested in. I will sit with her and make sure she know that I am sorry I am not able to help her and it is my intention as a professional to make sure she get with someone who she is comfortable with and someone who can help her.
