Evaluating Your Results
1.
Do you agree with the results? Why or Why not?
I agree with the above results. I thought my teaching score would have been higher since I was an instructor in the Army. I would have answered some of the questions
differently depending on the situation. I believe we all respond to strangers differently than folks we know. I can see myself answering the survey questions differently depending on the situation and person. I often purchase a meal for those who are in the area, asking for money. I am not sure what they would use the money on, and do not want them to spend it on
cigarettes, drugs, or alcohol. If it were someone I knew who needed money for essentials or utilities, I would not hesitate. I do know that I want to do more in my church than I am now. My church was established by a Village Missions missionary and is still run by Village Mission folks and leadership. This is not a really bad thing. We focus on Missions more than a regular church. I believe what is stifling growth is the older Elders and Deacons who seem to be trying to keep things the way they were when they were younger and just starting with the Church.
2.
How can you use your gifts in the church?
My Top three gift areas are Administration, Shepherding, and Teaching. With my thirty years of military service, I am able to do a lot to assist in the administration, logistics, and teaching/training. Due to being in the Army and having five deployments under my belt, I tend to look at things differently from others. I am very creative and can use that to create anything from training/teaching to more efficient ways to do things. I look forward to
every opportunity to assist the Church leadership; however, I am a newer member and am met with hesitancy to accept any help.
I have so many ideas to assist and help in my church and would love to put some, if not all, into action, but am limited in input due to the current church leadership. I will keep trying because I know my gifts from God will help rejuvenate my church. I do believe I can be an asset in any of the gifts in the survey. 3.
Lower scores do not indicate that you do not or cannot do those things.
Lower scores simply mean that you must work harder in those areas or that
you do not enjoy those areas as much as the higher-scoring areas. As a
leader, how will you approach ministry in the areas where you scored
lower? (Consider Ephesians 4:12-14 as you construct your thoughts.)
I am and have always looked for ways to strengthen any weaknesses I have.
I have had thirty years of doing so. I also feel and believe we should use
those who have just completed a school or training in an area. That person
has the latest and greatest facts and knowledge. You or I may know the
subject, but it has been quite a while since we taught or looked at it.
Empower the younger/newer folks that have more recent training and
experiences.
I plan to continue to study and seek to learn more about my God so I can
serve him better. That is the main reason I am taking classes at Liberty
University.
I am leaning toward leading a YouTube-type channel as we live and travel
full-time in our RV. I think showing folks the great things God has made as
well as how he watches over and provides for us, would help others be able
to grow closer to God. I also want to be the chaplain in the veterans’ groups that I’m a member of.
We military folks have a different look/outlook from folks who have not
served. I believe I can make a difference in veteran's lives and hopefully
assist in cutting down on veteran suicides.
