2 Agnes Briski SNHU COU 520 24, September, 2023 Jeanetta, the 22-year-old white female has experienced otherness due to her appearance from her moles and birthmarks on her face and neck. She also was part of a family that did not know what to do with her emotional needs, which comes back to a possible stigma of counseling and working through those feelings. Jeanetta just wants to feel loved, be loved, and valued by another human being. The client has disclosed she seeks counseling because she feels empty most of the time. Being that I do not know anything about the faith that the client practices, this would be a barrier for myself, and it would be important for me to learn about her faith in order to better help her through the counseling process and not overstep into boundaries that I know nothing about. The first step I would take to being unbiased with this client is to understand her faith, as I do not know anything about it. I would also get deeper into her feelings of being isolated past her elementary school days and her relationship with males. The considerations I would consider for myself would be my own religious views as I am not of the same faith as the client. I would need to make sure that I fully understand their faith. I also know nothing of what it feels like to be stared at, so I would want to make sure that I do not make this client feel as though I am staring at her, just making sure that I am being consistent when it comes to looking her in her eyes, not staring at whatever moles and birthmarks that are on her face and neck.
