EDU40021 – A1 PORTFOLIO Step 1: Theoretical perspective (individual component—400 words)
Choose a theory that describes what you believe about children and their learning. Remember to highlight key ideas from the theory. For higher marks in this criterion, you will need to discuss these thoroughly and explore a pedagogical practice.
Step 2: Philosophy statement (individual component—400 words)
You are required to develop a service philosophy statement. A philosophy statement guides all aspects of the service’s operation. The National Regulations (regulation 55) require the approved provider of an education and care service to ensure the service QIP contains a statement of the philosophy of service.
This service philosophy statement should be developed drawing from your
beliefs and values and your knowledge of theoretical learning perspectives. When developing your service philosophy for the fictional High hopes early learning centre (ELC), consider the following:
What are the key commitments you would like to make in the service philosophy?
Does the philosophy reflect the practices that you would like to be undertaken here?
Step 3: High hopes ELC (team component—800 words)
You will work on this component in your team. You will have the opportunity to choose who you would like to work with through the
