EDU40021 – A1 PORTFOLIO Step 1: Theoretical perspective (individual component—400 words) Choose a theory that describes what you believe about children and their learning. Remember to highlight key ideas from the theory. For higher marks in this criterion, you will need to discuss these thoroughly and explore a pedagogical practice.
Step 2: Philosophy statement (individual component—400 words) You are required to develop a service philosophy statement. A philosophy statement guides all aspects of the service’s operation. The National Regulations (regulation 55) require the approved provider of an education and care service to ensure the service QIP contains a statement of the philosophy of service. This service philosophy statement should be developed drawing from your beliefs and values and your knowledge of theoretical learning perspectives. When developing your service philosophy for the fictional High hopes early learning centre (ELC), consider the following: What are the key commitments you would like to make in the service philosophy? Does the philosophy reflect the practices that you would like to be undertaken here?
Step 3: High hopes ELC (team component—800 words) You will work on this component in your team. You will have the opportunity to choose who you would like to work with through the 2.7 Discussion 2: Teaming up for Assignment 1 discussion, but you must do so by the end of Week 2. You will then be placed into your team in Week 3 where you will collaborate together using the Team discussion board for Assignment 1 . First, you will need to download the Quality improvement plan template (DOC 482 KB) (ACECQA, n.d.). Use the information for the fictional High hopes ELC (found in Assignment 1 Case study information ) to fill in the quality improvement plan template. You may fill this in by hand or you may fill it in digitally. When it is complete, each student will submit the same quality improvement plan. Then copy and paste into the Assignment 1 Template (DOCX 1.2 MB) Download Assignment 1 Template (DOCX 1.2 MB) . The activity on page 4.7 High Hopes ELC will help you fill out each section: Fill in the ‘Service details’ section with the information given Fill in the ‘Operating hours’ section with the information given Fill in the ‘Additional information about your service’ with the information given Complete one (1) quality area Fill in the ‘Key improvements sought’ for the chosen quality areas. Step 4: Exceeding themes (individual component—100 words) Focusing on the quality area from your team assignment. Consider what specific information and evidence was given that fulfilled any of the three exceeding theme/s. If exceeding themes were not evident, please provide details and where improvements were required.
Step 5: Reflection (individual component—300 words) Reflect on the experience working on the team task: Did you respect each other’s ideas and suggestions and work in a way that was harmonious, positive and respectful? Did you give feedback to each other? Was your communication respectful and effective? Did you show a willingness to share information? Did you acknowledge the strengths and skills of your team members? Do you think you will feel confident filling in a QIP in the future?
