Using Medical Dictionary References Assignment
(25 points, one point per answer given. Please note there are two answers needed in the Root(s)/Combining Form(s) column)
In this course you will learn a multitude of medical terms, but by no means all of them! Learning to deconstruct an unfamiliar term to understand its meaning is a critical skill in medical terminology, which you will find useful long after the class is over. In the following assignment you will find five terms that you have likely not encountered before.
It is your task to locate the term in a medical dictionary reference - either in book form or using an online medical dictionary. Once you have found the meaning of the term, identify the various word components and their meanings. If there is no word component for a particular term, use “none” or “N/A” to indicate this. You will find that in some cases, a word
component has more than one meaning. Use a medical dictionary reference to aid you in selecting which meaning applies in the term you are deconstructing. Also, there may be more than one prefix or more than one root within a single term.
