CRIT 602 Annotated Bibliography Introduction The purpose of this bibliography is to provide the reader with information directly correlated to the field of Behavioral and Developmental Psychology. In addition, I will be discussing trends and societal factors within the field and implications for those interested in entering this field of study. We will predominately focus on the field of Behavioral Analysis and the increasing demand for these clinicians. Factors such as the prevalence of autism spectrum disorders will be tied in as well. The information contained within this bibliography is both descriptive and evaluative to provide a transparent analysis into the field and what is fueling changes in the evidence-based protocols that is the foundation for the practice of psychology as a whole discipline. This organization represents clinicians in a variety of sub disciplines directly related to the study of psychology. Their purpose is to promote the advancement, communication and application of psychological science and knowledge to benefit society and improve lives. The APA allows all professionals to subscribe to a membership which provides a vast variety of professional supports such as publication journals related to current research. In addition, they are the foundation for academic and professional writing. The American Psychological Association also provides many resources for aspiring students such as a tool to explore various careers in psychology. They also provide a comprehensive listing of APA approved universities and programs as well. Their extensive database of books, publications and videos are a great tool for assisting those professionals in the field to reach their mission of improving society. The information provided by the APA can be regarded as accurate, and credible in nature. The membership base of this organization consists of top experts in the field such as researchers, psychologists, educators and consultants and students. This adds to the credibility of such a nationwide organization. Overall, this organization holds valuable information for those with whom practice in the field. I would certainly recommend this scholarly organization to all current and future psychology professionals due to the wealth of knowledge and current research.

The emphasis is placed upon scientific research yielding outcomes that are then enacted into a set of principles. The ABCT maintains their mission by also providing professionals with options for obtaining CEU’s in their field of study. This is vital to ensure that all professionals are keeping current with advancements and treatment protocols to exemplify best practice. For the public, the ABCT provides a query which allows individuals to search for providers specific to a certain subfield. The most important consideration when evaluating resources and organizations for future academic and scholarly use would be to look at what information is presented and whether the sources are from professionals in the field. In addition, they provide a multitude of options for advancing one’s education by providing career development. One of the most important facets of this organization is their mission to advocate and spread awareness to the public surrounding the practice of behavior analysis including the scientific data backing the positive outcomes of those with whom have participated in applied behavior analysis. The APBA also places an emphasis on the recognition of the BACB credentials as it relates to the highly skilled clinicians which carry out behavioral treatment plans. Lastly, they place a major role in the representation of the field thus increasing the respect and allowing society to recognize the need for these clinicians. By placing emphasis on expertise in the field and ensuring that those clinicians exemplify the necessary educational skillsets required further strengthens this organizations integrity thus allowing another professional to obtain needed information to use in their current job and discipline. CRIT 602 The Behavior Analyst Certification Board is the governing body which maintains a database of all holders of a BCBA certification. They are also the sole corporation which was established in 1998 which sets a standard for every professional. Content and areas of expertise are derived from the BACB. They essentially serve as a regulatory board. For every aspiring BCBA they must have completed the required degree and possess certain content knowledge to be eligible to sit for the BACB examination. The exam is the step toward receiving a BCBA credential. In addition, entry level professionals such as Registered Behavior Technicians or RBTs must also posses the required training established for their role and pass a formal examination. The BACB also maintains a listing of all licensed clinicians, their years of experience and allows for aspiring professionals to reach out to establish supervisory hours required as part of the BCBA credentialing process. They also provide resources for those in the field including additional educational opportunities such as continuing education units and study materials. The organizations goals are to educate, as well as advance psychological research to improve the quality of lives for those impacted by autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities, and developmental disabilities. (Baker, 2021). Located within the APA division 33 Facebook page, there is a wealth of resources for professionals currently in the field along with aspiring professionals. Resources contained on this designated page come from highly credentialed individuals in the field which serve to strengthen research by sharing current findings with others in the same discipline. Other professionals, educators and parents can benefit from the APA division 33 resources. They update their page regularly, as well as provide the public with information on program offerings at many of the top Universities and colleges with a focus on general psychology, behavioral psychology and developmental psychology. The most recent posting was on April 22, 2022, which sought to share a research Associate position for PhD graduates at Rutgers University. As you look through the information contained on their page you will notice that all information is up to date and current as it relates to best practices and advancements within all subfields. The links contained are functional and allow the user to access the necessary pages and be redirected to the specified landing page depending on the individuals needs or interests. They also provide relevant information in the field of developmental psychology and the pediatric population.

CRIT 602 Overall, the information is presented in a clear and concise manner. You do not have to be a professional to understand much of the information generated to the public. APA division 33 is a nonprofit organization. The American Psychological Association Division 33 covers a broad range of topics related to psychology. Their mission was fostered due to the vulnerability of many special needs families with whom have sought treatments that are not adequately backed by scientific data. The Association for Science in Autism Treatment is a well-respected website and non-profit organization which publishes information surrounding the full spectrum of treatments available for those with an ASD diagnosis. The audience consists of professionals in the filed as well as parents/caregivers. I found it important to note that the ASAT publishes a monthly newsletter which is available to the public as well as members. They also provide the ability for students and other professionals to participate in an externship for ASAT which allows the participant to sharpen their skill set and network with other professionals in the field. ASAT produces various social media articles on Facebook, Linkedin and YouTube which serves to educate and provide the most current research related to best practice in the treatment of those with autism spectrum disorders. The credibility of ASAT along with the integrity by which they produce information that is peer reviewed and is backed by the latest psychological advancements aides to increase the validity of this nonprofit organization and is a valuable resource for students, aspiring professionals, and caretakers/parents of those impacted by this lifelong neurological disorder. CRIT 602 The following describes the mission and purpose for the establishment of The Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies. Since its inception, the ABCT has grown in its goals to advance the scientific evidence-based services provided by professionals in the field. The Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT) is a multidisciplinary organization created by 10 behaviorists which were dissatisfied with the popularity gained by others in the field acknowledging the psychoanalytic approach to behavioral psychology. The most prominent goal of this organization is to unify the field of behavioral psychology by creating a universal set of standards to educate, promote and help in the advancements of understanding, treatment, prevention and in the field of behavioral psychology. The focus is on scientific evidence-based approaches to the work done in the field. The values emphasized by this organization are, science, quality, diversity, mentorship, and accountability. These five core values are what provides the necessary credibility and validity to this multidisciplinary organization. The articles and research provided on their website and various social media platforms are written by highly qualified professionals in the field. The ABCT also provides a massive database of research and journals dedicated to various topics in the field of behavioral psychology. Members have full access to these along with professional development options for professionals, access to grant funding amongst others. Aspiring professionals and students also have access to resources such as webinars, conventions, and professional journals. One of the most valuable resources available to aspiring professionals and students are resources for undergraduate students who wish to get into graduate school. The difference between PsyD and PhD programs are explained to help students decide on their professional career path. Within their YouTube channel there are various videos on topics produced by professionals at the PhD or PsyD level which seek to educate and promote the latest research as it relates to their core mission to improve the lives of others by understanding human problems and being able to adequately address and treat issues leading more positive outcomes. This organization should be classified as one of the most valuable resources to any professional currently in the field of psychology as well as for any aspiring professionals and students.
