Paragraph 1: What have you learned about the technology available to
teachers? What concerns do you have about using technology in the
classroom? How do you feel the role of technology has changed since you
were a student? What tools do you feel would be most beneficial for
students?
I have learned that in today’s world where there are many teachers in the career field of
educating many students from different generations that it is important for teachers to know how
to use all types of technology in the classroom and also know how to fix technology issues. I
have also learned some more technology tools like different types of software and apps that
teachers can use in the classroom that I didn't know before taking this class or learning about
how technology is used in the classroom. Another thing that I have learned is that both students
and teachers should be able to have access to different types of technology in the classroom as
it is a way where both learning and teaching can be more fun rather than everything being on
paper. One concern that I have about using technology in the classroom is that it could become
a distraction and keep the students from paying attention and listening to the teacher. Another
concern that I have about the use of technology in the classroom is there being too many ads
on technology devices. Since I was a student in elementary/grade school technology has
changed so much as everything is becoming more and more technology based. When I was in
elementary/grade school all of my schoolwork and homework was on paper and there was very
little use of technology but as I have gotten older technology has become used more and more
nowadays. There has also been a lot of software updates and changes with technology even
apps are being updated. From the time I was a student in elementary/grade school they didn't
have Apple watches and iphones. We had ipads and ipods but technology has changed so
much that nowadays they have Apple watches and the newest iphone with everything that you
could imagine. Some technology tools that I think would be the most beneficial for students are
Quizlet and kahoot but this also depends on the grade that the students are in. For the younger
students I would say ABC mouse or ABCya are the most beneficial technology tools.
●
Paragraph 2: Next week, you will complete the Technology Application Project
and pick two of the tools from your chart to create an activity and
assessment for one specific topic. Elementary and Special Education
candidates must choose one of the four core areas: math, reading, social
science, or science. Secondary candidates may use the subject they are
pursuing. Which tools do you think you might use for this project? How would
using technology benefit your instruction or assessment? What type of
research will you need to do before creating your tool?
I am not majoring in any part of the education departments or getting a career in education. I am
pursuing a degree in fine arts and communications in interdisciplinary studies. I would probably
choose Kahoot and Quizlet for the project as these are two platforms or technology tools that I
am the most familiar with. I might use something that is art related for my topic for the project.
Technology would be needed for my project because technology tools that I will be choosing are
going to require some kind of technology device. For my project, I will need some kind of
technology because I will be using technology tools where I will be playing games. I am not sure
what research will be needed for the project other than finding and determining rules for the
games that will be played using the two tech tools that I have chosen to use from the chart.
