Kaden Green Social Media Marketing 11-8-22 Chapter 8 Essay
1. Give an example of how a brand can use a podcast to market itself. How can I use microblogging? At work I often end up listening to podcasts to help the day go by just a little bit quicker. Listening to these podcasts I notice that a lot of companies use these podcasts as a chance to advertise their product. But depending on the product you make you want to pick the podcast carefully. A Good example of this is with Joe Rogan's podcast and his sponsor with Athletic Greens. Joes Podcast is the largest podcast in the world with millions of daily listeners. Joe is Known to be a guy that is all about staying in shape with working out and martial arts training. He preaches about the importance of these things regularly. So he's a healthy role model in this sense meaning he's a healthy guy. His constant preaching about taking care of yourself and his podcasts with millions of views makes this a perfect podcast to use to market your product. Athletic Greens is a daily multivitamin that uses Joe Rogan's podcast to promote their product and I think it's a perfect match. If you are asking how you can do microblogging twitter is a pretty good website that could be considered “MicroBlogging”. If you are asking about how you can use microblogging as a smaller business or something of that sort. You can use MicroBlogging to notify clients that you have run out of a certain product. 2.Find an example of how a brand uses a social networking page, such as Facebook or MySpace. Compare it to an individual user’s profile. What comparisons can you make?
The brand that I'm going to use as an example is Black Rifle Coffee Company. They are a relatively newer coffee company that is taking the internet and coffee drinkers by storm. After viewing their Instagram account @blackriflecoffee on instagram I noticed a few things. The description of their page basically is a description of their company. They've got all a person might want to know about the company including links to their website and even that they are Veteran Owned. On a regular person's account a description does pretty much the same thing. A regular person's account description might say if they are in a relationship or maybe even what year they graduated high school. Or if they are a little older it could say what their profession is and maybe highlights of some sales they had at work. I also Noticed that BlackRifleCoffee company uses their company account as strictly a promotional tool. They post super insane videos with stuff blowing up and other things like that. One thing all these videos have in common is that a black rifle product is somewhere in the picture or video. Whether it's just a coffee cup or a Car with their logo on it. A regular person's instagram account is used as more of a place to post pictures of a cool vacation you went on or maybe your dog. Overall brands use their pages as strictly promotional tools while regular everyday people use it for what it's meant for. 3. Visit Digg or Reddit. Search for information on one of your favorite brands. See what has been tagged. What did you find? Were you surprised at what you found?

I went to reddit for this and looked up my favorite fast food restaurant RaisingCanes. A well known fried chicken restaurant or at least they are well known where i'm from. Some of the things that raising cane's have been tagged in range from Promotional posts to people throwing hate towards the company. Some people have really genuine questions. For example I saw that a man was asking if raising canes or any of its locations use Halal Chicken. This man got plenty of answers to his question, all of them positive. I found out that all raising canes use halal chicken and that there are even raising canes restaurants in the middle east. Then I also saw some hate posts directed at raising canes which I was not expecting to see. Some of these posts came from people with genuine reasons to be upset with the company, some of them were about poor customer service. The others were about problems they found with the food and other things like this. The others were just Chick Fil A fans that dont like Raising canes. I was surprised at what I found on reddit. I know that reddit and twitter are pretty well known for having the most trolls and hateful people on them. I was not expecting to see people kind of “trolling” a fried chicken restaurant on social media. 4. Why is transparency so important to marketing using social media? Has this halted or accelerated the use of social media for marketing?
Transparency is important when it comes to social media marketing for many reasons. Transparency when posting on social media can help you gain the trust of a customer. Using social media posting to help gain the trust of a customer can be a really good tool. A Lot of companies give tours of factories or even insight into new products on their social media accounts. As a customer this can help you feel like you are being included in the loop and that the company isn't trying to hide anything from you. It's also good to know as a customer that the company actually cares about the people they are selling to and aren't just out to make as much money as possible. Gaining the trust of your customers is important and Social Media marketing is a tool that has only helped build this trust between companies and consumers.Trust between company and consumer can help generate sales because people who trust a company and their products will buy the companies product more often. Some Companies can even build an online reputation that keeps their name and image circulating. Wendys is a good example of this and their rogue twitter account. The benefits of being transparent on social media have in my mind only accelerated the use of social media in a marketing standpoint. 5. What is the difference between advertising using social media and marketing using social media? Social Media marketing can be done for free. Social media marketing can be done just by posting on your company's social media displaying a new product or service. This post will be shared with all the people that follow the company. These posts can be sent to other people who may not be familiar with your company. Social
media marketing is kind of like your own self promotion. Because you aren't paying anyone to advertise on the social media platform for you. On the other hand, advertising through social media is completely different. Advertising using social media means that you are paying someone to run this advertisement to as many people as it can. Now this may be more successful than just marketing using your social media. This is because the Ad can go to all kinds of people. It isn't limited to just the followers of your account. If you pay someone to do Social Media Advertising for you your advertisement will reach so many more people. Reaching as many people as possible is good for an advertisement because it can help increase your chances of making a profit off of it.
