2 Family Life Cycle Website Analysis In this paper the nine stages of family life cycles will be connected to information that the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital website offers. We will discuss how the website and the information and topics offered on it relate or attract each stage of the cycle. The nine stages of the family life cycle are independence, coupling or marriage, parenting launching children, empty nest, retirement, old age, or senior years, grandparenting, and family in later life. Nine Stages of Family Life Cycle First Five Stages of Family Life As said before there are nine stages of the family life cycle, and in the previous paragraph they are listed. According to PeaceHealth (2023), the family life cycle helps to describe the emotional and intellectual stages one passes through in a family from childhood all the way to retirement or senior age. The first stage is independence, this is where a person or child learns that they are an independent person and separate from their immediate family and extended family. In this stage one learns to build relationships outside of the family, make friends, as well as when they are of age, they establish a career path or work. Another stage is coupling or marriage, this is where a person uses the things, they learned in the independence stage to enter a relationship with another person. It is important that you share goals in this stage with the person you are entering into a relationship with and may need to think about that person above yourself in times of need. The next stage is parenting, whether you are parenting young children or parenting adults, this stage is where you as a parent or a couple learn to become decision makers not only for yourselves but for your children as well. In the parenting stage you must learn to communicate well, solve problems, and maintain relationships with everyone. Parenting an adult or adolescent involves being flexible and encouraging your child to become independent, as well as to be creative. The fourth stage in the family life cycle is launching adult
3 children, this entails allowing acceptance of new members into the family such as in laws and potentially grandchildren as the person’s children create their own families . Last Four Stages of the Family Life Cycle Another stage of the family life cycle is the Empty Nest stage, in this stage the parenting is going through the experience of their child or children leaving home and one may focus on their own health or own relationship with their spouse. The next stage is retirement, in this stage one may be going through changing roles such as becoming grandparents or even great grandparents. One may also be getting used to not working anymore and being retired from not only constant parenting but also from a career. The next stage is senior years of old age, in this stage one may faces health challenges, as well as losing family members to things such as divorce or death. In this stage most reflect on what they have learned throughout life. Another stage in the family life cycle is the grandparenting stage, this is where one is focused on being a grandparent or contributing to the extended family. Family in later life is the last stage in the cycle, in this stage family adapts to changes in health, relationships and mobility. Organization Introduction The organization that will be used for referencing their website and relating their website to stages of the family life cycle is the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, the URL for their website is https://www.cincinnatichildrens.org/patients . 6 SWOT Analysis Results Various aspects of a hospital or even the economy can affect an organization such as the one referenced above. Using the SWOT analysis for the organization for last week, the pharmacy could use the analysis to evaluate the pharmacy strengths and use their strong points to invest in new products, technology, research as well as expand or develop the pharmacy more. They could use their global locations to partner with other organizations and research facilities. They could use their weaknesses too develop a better plan in order to build those weakness, such as increase their emerging markets and in turn increasing revenue. They can expand their product market and rely on more products. The pharmacy can use the opportunity to develop products from research they participate in, search new markets, like marketing medical devices and meet more medical needs. Another way the pharmacy could use the SWOT analysis to their advantage and to help the company is by staying on top of competitors, adapting to new technology that is available as well as monitoring economic downfalls. Some implications of a healthcare administrator or healthcare manager when it comes to the SWOT analysis results is helping to encourage partnerships with other pharmacies, healthcare organizations, and research facilities. Another implications that one can do is make sure that the organization is prioritizing compliance and regulations, which help to obtain contracts and partnerships.
