Running head: MARKETING PLAN-WEEK TWO 1 Marketing Plan-Week Two Clara West Trevecca Nazarene University Author Note Marketing for Managers, Professor Dawn Olson
MARKETING PLAN-WEEK TWO 2 Target Market: The target age for users of a day care service in Walmart is 18-30 and 50-65. These ages include both parents raising children and grandparent raising grandchildren. This service would be used by more females than males. Parents from every culture and ethnicity would use this service. The income of the family would have to be enough to pay either a membership or just for daily services Walmart can offer. Geographically, this service should begin in the cities that are most populated with children. Statistically, the top ten most densely child populated cities are: New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Miami, Boston, Washington DC, San Francisco, Long Beach, Los Angeles, and Seattle respectively. If the day care service goes well, it can expand into other cities and states. The lifestyles of those the day care serves will be working parents or grandparents who are able to afford the service. These people are probably consumer shoppers who wish to avoid the child putting unwanted items in the cart. The customers value a stress-free shopping experience. They will also value knowing that their child(ren) is in great hands, learning, and safe. One of the most important features of this service is safety. The children will be observed the entire time they are in the hands of the care giver. Another feature is that the child will be learning no matter their age. They can learn from the toys, technology, and other children. The children will benefit from a happy, caring environment. Customer Analysis: The current needs of customers will be met by being able to shop with less stress and only getting the items they need. This service will be everchanging. There will be a constant flow of children all with different personalities. The toys and technology will also be continuously
MARKETING PLAN-WEEK TWO 3 changing. Safety precautions will need to be updated periodically as well. As the service grows, a larger space with more help may be needed and should be planned for. Points of Difference: Walmart’s day care service will be different from other day cares in that it will be open the entire time the store is open. If someone needs to shop on the weekend, the day care will be open unlike others that are only open during the week. This service will also be cheaper than paying a daycare service for just running to the store for a couple hours. The last difference in this and other major retailers is that they do not offer such a service. Positioning Statement: Walmart is one of the leading large retailers in the world and has set out to ensure the best shopping experience possible with its new day care service. Walmart will provide a high quality, safe environment for children to learn and play. All the while, the parent or grandparent will have a stress-free, peaceful shopping experience.
