The traits that account for the success of Denny Hill are intelligence, confidence, determination, and integrity. 2. How would you describe Denny Hill’s leadership abilities? Denny Hill’s leadership abilities are persistent and motivating. 3. Leadership includes administrative skills, interpersonal skills, and conceptual skills. How does Denny Hill stack up on these skills? Using his administrative skills he plans a team sleepover and a hell week to start their season with a bonding experience for the team. He uses his interpersonal skills but pushing the swimmers to get the most out of them while also being there for them whenever the going gets tough. By holding swimmers accountable and making them be at every workout he has built a program that has won 31 state championships with his time as the coach. 4. How does Denny Hill integrate task and relationship behaviors in his leadership? He integrates his task behaviors into his leadership by requiring his swimmers to swim 10 miles a day for the duration of hell week. He uses his relationship behaviors by holding team meetings once a week and allowing the athletes to express any concerns they may have about a teammate or a member of the coaching staff. He also uses his relationship skills by making jokes with the team to take the edge off during their grueling workouts. 5. From a relational perspective, how would you describe Denny Hill’s leadership? I would describe his leadership process as extremely successful as he has 900+ wins along with 31 state championships.
