Understanding that it is not a weakness but a strength to be a vulnerable and humble leader, identify three ethics you feel are areas of strength and three that are areas you will need to work a little harder on to develop. Explain. As someone who wants to be in leadership, I wholeheartedly stand by the fact that all leaders have the demands of a commitment to ethical principles. We are guiding the next generation to becoming adults, and because of this we must strive to give them an example of what living an ethical life looks like. I believe there are many great qualities to being an ethical leader. The three areas of strength of being an ethical leader that I possess are confidentiality, honesty and integrity, and accountability. Being a confidentiality leader is one of my top priorities. Having been in a work environment where the leader did not keep things confidential, I saw and experienced their loss of integrity with their staff members. I want to be a leader where my staff and students feel that I am someone they can come and talk to about what is happening in their classroom and also their lives outside of work. Without being a confidential person, you cannot have open and honest conversations that are important to have as a leader. My next trait is honesty and integrity. Leaders must be honest with their workers and staff members. I believe this is a strong trait I have because I will not lie or cover up things that are happening in my school building. My third strength is accountability. Accountability is something I take very seriously. I ask my friends and coworkers to hold me accountable for my actions and I hold them accountable the same way. I want to make sure my staff and students know that I will hold them accountable for their work and actions during the school day. My three areas of growth for becoming a better ethical leader are asking/accepting help when I need it, managing conflict, and overall being a leader within the school environment. I have never been great at asking and receiving help when I need it. I have always thought of it as a sign of weakness, even though I know that is not true. As a school leader, there will be many times where I know I will need help managing and running the school. I cannot do everything myself, and that I must learn how to accept and ask for help when needed. Second, managing conflict is stressful for me. I am someone who takes everything personal so I will think that everything is my fault or that when I have to fire someone that the blame falls on me. I know there will be a lot of conflict I have to manage and this is an area where I feel like I will need the most help. Lastly, I feel like I could gain and grow my overall school leadership skills. I have never been in a leadership position at a school before, and I know once I step into that kind of role that I will need to learn a lot of new skills to become the best leader that I can be. I want to be the best leader possible so I think working on these three areas of weakness will help me out a lot in the long run.
