Renee Peavy A1. An organizational structure that would work seamlessly for our newfound consulting business is a team organizational structure. We hope our mission, “Facilitate sustainable social, economic, and environmental development opportunities for the good of businesses in the community. " Speaks through our work ethic. This team organizational structure works by meshing as a unit for the company’s greater good, versus having one person make all decisions. This type of structure results in more valuable input leading to a better quality of work towards the common objective. The team's composed of individuals from a variety of backgrounds and experience levels; allowing the company to have a wider range of diversity and knowledge. Leadership roles are a key element of the team structure. In the beginning stages the company networks, creating partnerships and investors for expansion. These investors will attain leadership roles in the company. These investors will act as a form of management. The shareholders will then operate under the CEO. As previously mentioned, a team structure has a diverse group of members, in terms of expertise. This will be an important factor when working towards the “goal of assessing 30 different businesses in the local community within the first year.” Exposure to a large variety of businesses will help in making this goal attainable with the diversification in team structure permits. With the expansion of the company, more employees are hired with greater expertise. “Working together as a unified group to achieve company goals”
is one of the main objectives to team organizational structure. This response will allow the company to find the underlying strengths and weaknesses. The company will then use results to access areas of improvement and how to obtain more clients. Hoping to lift the city's current status in “the most sustainable and innovative communities list from the top 20% of all U.S. communities to the top 10%.” A2. In team structure functions or departments exists. The company is comprised of three different departments: consulting/marketing, management/human resources, and accounting/ finance. The departments will be working closely together- using interns to assist, 1 per team. These interns will act as leaders for each of the three departments. Helping in forming our chain of command. The marketing and consulting divisions will unify to form one team. Helping to hold one another accountable in terms of staying up to date and being the most effective plan of action, with constant shifts in society/ clientele accruing. At the same time, the accounting, and human resources departments will also have to work together in terms of legality. This department will handle labor regulations, employee relations, and monitoring accounts payable/ receivable. This idea will ensure the company is following all correct protocols. They will act as a checks and balances system for paperwork and logistics. This issue is especially important when handling the fiscal side of things as the accounting department so often does. The firm will be strongly committed to decentralization. Interns will have access to resources, whenever needed, with little to no required approval. By implementing a decentralized
organizational structure, the company will ensure managers are empowered to make decisions- keeping teams functioning at optimal capacity. Decentralization in terms of decision-making is known in the business world as a time saver. When making decisions is left to the lowest organizational level, these same employees become specialists in their specific activities. Decentralization allows managers to have time to focus on prevalent matters such as planning, organization, and staffing.
