SUMMARY
of that article in 3-4 paragraphs
Supply chain focused outsourcing is the main topic in the article. The authors
demonstrate supply chain focused outsourcing affects every link in the supply chain. The main
goal is to demonstrate how supply chain focused outsourcing must be included planning and in
the decision-making process. In this article, the main sources of supply chain focused
outsourcing are the main concerns. The author enables learners to find out the exact meaning of
outsourcing.
In the article, learners are able to discover the benefits of outsourcing business operations
in manufacturing and services. Find out why outsourcing is not the same as contracting or joint
ventures. Find out about the advantages and disadvantages of outsourcing and understand more
about outsourcing's hidden costs. In addition, learners are able to find out what core and non-core
competencies are. Get familiar with the components of strategic outsourcing and learn more
about the relationship manager for outsourcing.
2
The author asserts that the value of outsourcing business processes globally has topped
US$6 trillion. It is stated that in the near future, business process outsourcing in the US is
expected to rise at a rate of roughly 10% per year. The article documents past research that the
"average executive's budget is outsourced to a range of 25 and 34 percent." The press and the
industry have also reported receiving a substantial amount of attention.

content or DIFFERENT from than course material in 3-4 paragraphs. Be clear so
the grader knows you are talking about the course or the article content
The article is mainly concerned with the issues revolving around supply chain focused
outsourcing. The article is in tandem with the lessons learned in the classroom concerning supply
chain focused outsourcing. Both the lesson and the lessons learned in class suggest that it is often
impossible to pinpoint the rationale behind why businesses outsource certain business processes.
Whether the CEO, CFO, or CIO makes the outsourcing pitch will determine the decision. It is
evident from the article that a decrease in direct operational costs is what drives the majority of
outsourcing proposals. For an outsourcing proposal to be appealing, the cost reduction must be
considerably lower than the present direct operating costs.
The classroom lecture explained that some of the generic benefits of outsourcing include
cost minimization, which is accomplished by lowering direct operational expenses, removing
administrative costs, and subsequently turning fixed costs into variable costs, is one of the
general strategic advantages of outsourcing. By concentrating on what the organization does best
and restructuring the business to focus on new products and services, the organization can be
brought back to its core strengths. Enhancement of operational performance through an increase
3
in quality and productivity and the acquisition of new capabilities from outside sources.
Therefore, by evaluating the providers' network and quickening development into new markets,
market share and revenue were increased.
Lastly, the context learned in the classroom indicates that some particular advantages of
outsourcing: cost reduction and cost management. Boost the quality of products and services.
Redirect limited resources and shorter cycle times, as well as, reduce risks and gain adaptability.
Convert fixed expenses to variable expenses. A contract is vital to legally safeguard one's rights,
but in order to reap the predicted benefits of outsourcing; a thorough strategic analysis and a
sincere commitment to a cooperative partnership with the service provider are also required.
WHAT I HAVE LEARNED THAT IS NEW FROM THE COMPARISON in 3-4
paragraphs.
Several things emerged which I learned from this article that have been unfamiliar to me.
For example, I learned that when making sourcing options, the cost of quality is a crucial factor.
Preventative, appraisal, internal failure, and external failure costs are often used categories to
describe costs related to ensuring quality.
The next important issue I learned from the article is that the purchasing company will
ultimately be impacted by persistent internal quality problems at the external source. The
purchasing company must make sure that the right safeguards are in place to ensure that they are
able to identify quality issues from an outside source. This could be more challenging than
internal sourcing since, in the case of external sourcing, the purchasing organization might not
have kept up enough internal capabilities to even properly analyze the quality of a good or
service offered by the external supplier.

When reading the article, it changed my initial preconceived views when it comes to
supply chain focuses outsourcing. The most efficient external sourcing connections need a lot of
management work and coordination, as has long been acknowledged in the literature on both
strategy and operations. 6 Regrettably, there is a cost involved. Relationships involving
commodity goods or services may not necessitate considerable relationship-building and
coordination because not all external sourcing connections are created equal. The other extreme
of the spectrum is the external sourcing of strategic goods and services. Relationship-building
and coordination efforts are fairly significant in these circumstances.

Provide a
SUMMARY
of that article in 3-4 paragraphs
Manufacturing Focused Supply Chain Integration was the main topics of this article. The
author asserts that without an integrated manufacturing planning and control system, the idea of
manufacturing excellence cannot be realized. The supply chain must incorporate technology,
information sharing, and supply chain procedures. To monitor, regulate, and improve overall
production and supply chain performance, supply chain integration entails sharing information
throughout the supply chain. Coordination of information from purchasing, production, and
resource planning is required for manufacturing planning and control across the supply chain.
5
Investigate the interaction between supply chain integration and manufacturing
excellence is one of the chapter's key goals. Discover how managers make decisions regarding
which capacity-management technique(s) to employ and how to do so. Understand the
components of supply chain management. See how information sharing affects manufacturing
excellence. Recognize the dynamic of the supply chain idea. Read about the SCOR model's
components. Gain knowledge about the SCOR model and supply integration and lastly, to
understand the idea of manufacturing integration using actual data.
The article examines three supply chain practice categories, which are supply chain
planning, JIT production, and delivery, because research has linked them strongly to the success
of deliveries. Logistics Planning Process information from suppliers, customers, and internal
operations using supply chain planning techniques. Making an accurate estimate of future
demand and coordinating different departments inside a company with its suppliers and clients
are the two main goals of supply chain planning. Forecasting demand along the supply chain is
significant, as is well known.

the grader knows you are talking about the course or the article content
The author is mainly concerned with manufacturing focused supply chain integration.
Both the lesson and the article agrees forecasting affects delivery success. The alignment of the
functions inside a manufacturing company is crucial to achieving its objective, hence inter-
functional coordination is crucial. All of the important company functions are driven by
6
forecasting. Forecasts are specifically used as inputs for choices related to sales, budgeting,
capacity planning, purchasing, inventory management, and staffing.
The lessons learned in class and the text book also agrees that sales projections are used
as inputs for production resource estimates as well as business strategy forecasts. Information
sharing and inter-firm collaboration among supply chain partners have been shown to be
valuable. Strategic/tier-one suppliers of a company are typically where collaborative ties are
established. At this point, both the purchasing and providing companies fully appreciate the
advantages of collaborating to achieve the best results. The two businesses routinely exchange
resources and information while developing a joint product strategy.
Finally, the context learned in the classroom is in tandem with the article since it includes
the fact that processing of order inquiries is the first step in the delivery process, which
concludes with client billing. Inquiries are processed, orders are entered, orders are combined,
shipments are routed, carriers are chosen, products are transported, and so on. The effectiveness
of a company's delivery system has a considerable beneficial effect.

WHAT HAVE I LEARNED THAT IS NEW FROM THE COMPARISON in 3-4
paragraphs
From this article, there are several important things that I learned. First, I learned that
Next, I learned that the main component used in the remanufacturing process is the used
core. Several of the obtained cores are also incompatible with the demands of the current
remanufacturing process. After disassembly, there are questions about core quality as well.

While some of the damaged cores can be repaired, it would be too expensive for others. The
yield rate can generally be quite erratic and changeable.
Finally, the article changed my preconceived ideas since I came to realize when
compared to standard manufacturing operations, remanufacturing operations are considerably
more complex and challenging in terms of production planning and control activities. This is
primarily because it is difficult to source the cores needed for remanufacturing. To make
informed decisions about product purchases, capacity planning, and waste management, it is
crucial to forecast the percentage of product returns. An efficient production planning and
inventory system depends on an accurate forecast of the amounts of returned products.
