ELM-480-T2-Technology and Multimedia in the Classroom Alyssa Sampey Screen Share: Screen Share can be accessed offline by using the Promethean app and doesn't cost anything. This tool is age appropriate for 3rd grade and above. The best purpose of this tool would be to the writing content of ELA. One advantage of this tool is that it allows teachers to annotate while monitoring student accuracy (Promethean, n.d.). One disadvantage is that after a certain amount of time if your device goes to sleep it disconnects the screen share. This can help struggling students and increase literacy skill development by seeing the correct way for writing using complete sentences, which can help when answering reading comprehension questions. Epic: Epic can be accessed online through any platform or through the website directly with a code provided by the teacher and doesn't cost anything. This is a great app that can be focused on any child in 1st grade and above. The purpose of the tool is geared towards reading and comprehension (Bouslog, 2020). Advantages is after the child reads the book it offers a short reading comprehension quiz. One disadvantage is that it has videos which kids will try to watch versus reading. This can engage struggling students to have kid appropriate books that would catch the readers' attention. Scrible: Scrible is an online resource that is free, it is best to register as an educator so your files don't get lost. This would be most beneficial to 5th grade and above. The best purpose of this tool would be writing and grammar. One advantage of this tool is that students and teachers can work together on the same file (Ward, 2016). It also allows teachers to provide feedback of their writing immediately. The one disadvantage is that it doesn't yet support PDF files (Ward, 2016). This tool can help struggling students because it allows students to work together on writing with their peers and teachers, which could make them feel more comfortable. EdPuzzle: EdPuzzle is an online tool that is free and just requires you to register for an account. This tool can be age appropriate for students of all grade levels. This online tool is also one that can cover any content of ELA instruction, by choice of what the teacher assigns (Ward, 2016). It is a great resource that provides videos with lessons for a formative assessment. It is also best for small group or independent as they complete it at their own pace. One disadvantage is that it is not ideal for whole-group instruction. This can help struggling students by using videos to provide or drive your instruction, allowing them to understand at their own level. Technology to Help Struggling Readers
