When you have completed this activity and answered all the questions, follow the instructions in your course to submit the document for grading and feedback. Step 01 Carefully read and review Section 37-42 of Doctrine and Covenants. Step 02 Identify the fve most signifcant laws that God revealed to His children in section 42 through his servant Joseph and explain why you feel they are signifcant. ( 250-300 words ) For each law found, including the following: State the law you found as a statement Scripture Reference (The verse(s) that motivated you to select the law you have stated). Explanation (Why you feel this law is signifcant). 1. Law : Missionaries are instructed and commanded to go out two by two by the spirit . D&C 42:6 Explanation : God provides specifc instructions on how to carry out the missionary work, and it must be ordered by the spirit. The missionaries will go out under the name of God 2. Law : Keep the commandments. D&C 42:29 Explanation : God emphasizes the commandments he has given in the previous verses and instructs us to keep his commandments if we love Him. 3. Law : The bishop is responsible for managing the funds and will use them to give to the poor as needed according to their needs. D&C 42:31 Explanation : As part of his duties as a steward, the bishop is accountable for managing the funds with the assistance of his counselors. He is not only ordained as a judge of Israel but also as a temporary fnancial administrator.
4. Law : Cleanliness is important. D&C 42:40 – 41 Explanation : Our clothes must be and be kept clean and just as our heart should not be proud, our way of dressing should be modest so that it does not attract the attention of others. To show our love and obedience to achieve this modesty. 5. Law : Idleness is not accepted. D&C 42:42 Explanation : The idle cannot progress because they lack the drive to do something for themselves and their families. They take a comfortable attitude not to work. To avoid going backwards in our process, it's essential to always strive to progress and move forward. Step 03 Answer the following questions: 1. What do these laws reveal about God’s character? ( 100-150 words) The laws we have are proof that our God is a God of order, and He has established this Church through its thought and organization. These laws show us the character of God; they also demonstrate how He responds to our prayers and answers our questions. The purpose of these laws was to eliminate confusion and give us a clear understanding of what God expects and how His Church should function. These laws were established as a result of questions and God's desire to prevent us from becoming confused. 2. What do they reveal about man’s nature? ( 100-150 words) Man by his own nature, if he is not organized, is in chaos, he needs structuring, otherwise he will be involved in problems. To achieve success, we require guidance and rules from a superior being, which allows us to comprehend our purpose in God's plan. In a fallen world, humans tend to be bad, but this changes when they are close to Christ. Humanity is guided by these laws to avoid temptations and choose good over evil, and these decisions and laws will help us achieve eternal life. Step 04 Create five self-evaluation questions based on these laws of God you selected from Section 42 that would be worth pondering on for a disciple. ( 100-150 words)
1. Being a missionary of our Lord Jesus Christ, am I following the rules/regulations set by the church and taking the words of the living prophet personally and seriously. 2. Am I making enough efforts in keeping the commandments of our Heavenly Father and Lord Jesus Christ? 3. As a branch president, am I using the Lord's money wisely and am I encouraging my counselors to do the same? 4. Am I conservative and modest when I make my clothing choices as I should be? 5. Do I use my time effectively and wisely and how can I avoid idleness and magnify my calling in church and home? Step 05 Reflect on the insights you gained this week. Write a 150-250 word paragraph ; describe what the single most powerful insight was that came to you as you studies this week’s revelations and what you hope to do with it. Your paragraph should contain: o A description of what stood out to you. o What you hope to do better as a result of this new or deeper understanding you have been given. Here are some questions to consider in writing this paragraph: o Was there a particular “one=liner” in these revelations that captures your greatest insight? o What was your biggest “aha” moment in studying these revelations? o What do you hope to do better as a result of what you have studied? According to D&C 42:41 everything must be done with purity before God and Jesus Christ, which tells me that healing must be in all aspects of our lives. I think I should improve on this, sometimes it's hard to have pure thoughts because we can't stop thinking about things that don't worry us or that are far from spiritual things. I think this writing is the essence of D&C 42. It's the cave, it's my 'aha' moment. With what I have said, I hope to improve as a person, as a husband, as a father, as a student, as a worker and as a son and servant of God. Another thing that I really need to improve on is idleness or procrastination. I will be working hard to get better in this area so I can become a better person.
