Slide 2 The agenda for today is to begin with a quick overview of the project, followed by an explanation of its purpose and significance, as well as the management strategies employed to identify  the issues.. Then, going on to the results, outcomes, and recommendations made. Lastly, we'll talk about the project's conclusion and the competencies gained. Slide 5 The Project was designed to identify gaps in the rwj Barnabas’s Physical therapy sites in essex and Hudson counties AND then to map them. To do these three key objectives were formed. Three data sources provided the organisation which include claims data, business information from a mapping vendor, and physician roster database, showed discrepancies in the data sources. No one data source was accurate, but all had helpful information. . The first objective is to have a cleaned and accurate database of Pt sites in Hudson and Essex counties .The second objective was to identify the type of affiliation each physical therapy practise had. And the last objective was to map those facilities geographically for better visualisation and ease of interpretation. Slide 6 After attaining these objectives, the project had three main goals. The first goal is to increase patient accessibility. Assuring that the PT facilities are located in a convenient and easily accessible area. The second goal is to to expand the PT facilities in a identified gap areas and expanding their network.  By growing the network and enhancing patient accessibility The third goal is to ensure that an improved quality of care is provided to the patients which satisfactorily ensures that all their needs are taken into account. Slide 8 To give a brief a background about the project. The project is designed to identify Gaps in the organization’s Physical therapy network in their 8 service county area across New jersey. Out of the 8 Counties Hudson and essex were focused first to have a clean updated roasted and to identify gaps Slide 9 This is the Current state of RWJ Barnabas pt sites. Essex has 8 pt facilities while Hudson has 4 pt facilities Slide 10 In Hudson County the largest ethnic group was White (Non-Hispanic) residents (3.54k people\ Black or African American and Asian residents, the second and third most common ethnic groups. While Black or African American (Non-Hispanic) residents in Essex County, were the highest than any other race or ethnicity. White (Non-Hispanic) White (Hispanic) residents, the second and third most common ethnic groups. Both the counties have a good amount of racial and ethnic communities. Research published in the American Journal of Surgery looked at how people used rehabilitation programs after being discharged from the hospital following a traumatic incident. When compared to their white counterparts, Black Americans were much less likely to utilize rehab treatments such as outpatient PT after a hospital stay following trauma, according to the study. . Through the accessible Physical therapy locations it will help bridge the gap to serve racial and ethnic communities the system
wants to ensure access regardless of race, demographics or the ability to pay as healthcare disparities due to race are a frequent concern in America Slide 12 According to Sg2, a national thinking tank and strategy organization, the 10-year total outpatient rehab growth is projected to be 10% for ortho patients and 6% for spine patients, which shows a significant growth and need in the future for this service.” The demand for physical therapy is growing for many reasons, but two of the most important factors: 1.  Sedentary Lifestyles : With the growth of office jobs comes a rapid increase of people working at a desk for eight hours per day, whether that’s at home or in the office. Making them are more prone to slips, trips, and falls; and The best and most economical way to prevent or recover from these injuries can be physical therapy. The second reason is the a ging Populations : Baby boomers,   the second largest generation , are getting older, and many are looking to prolong their independence and quality of life. Physical therapy is key to achieving these objectives, as it empowers individuals to maintain mobility and prevent injury.   According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the need for physical therapists is projected to grow by 21% before 2030, which is much faster than the   8%   average growth rate across all U.S. occupations. Slide 13 This discusses the financial impact each individual practise has When RWJ expands its Physical therapy Practise. So for an individual physical therapy facility if the NO of visit per days is 12 and the cost of each visit is $120. Then the weekly income would be 7,200 and the gross income for the year 2023 considering the no of working days is 260 then the total would three hundred seventy-four thousand four hundred. The additional costs and inventory that would be required are yet to be determined.   For the organisation it’s less about revenue and more about offering a full continuum of care for patients and keeping them in the system Slide 15 Several deliverables must be fulfilled to ensure the effective development and implementation of the Project. These tools were created as a comparison mechanism for measuring future progress. SWOT Analysis, which was performed to determine the organization's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Reputable network with High patient safety and recognised by Forbes’s as america’s best in state employee where it’s strength. Weakness included inadequate information due to inaccurate and conflicting data from source. The opportunities were to having a scope of extending their network by providing accessible care and improving patient satisfaction scores. Lastly the threats involved Data inaccuracy, Competition and losing patients to out of state network. Slide 16 A root cause analysis helps to determine why the company needed to build and expand PT sites. The first reason is regarding pateints As the baby boomer population has grown over
the years, the patient volume has increased, and there has been a dramatic surge to have accessible and timely treatment. . Due to competition There is a possibility that the organization may lose patients to out-of-network hospitals that provide accessible treatment to the community. This would have an impact on the hospital's financial success. as well as their ability to retain patients. According to county demographics they have a diverse population of racial and ethnic communities. the system wants to ensure access for everyone, urban/suburban and regardless of race, demographics or the ability to pay. Finally, growing their network will result in higher patient happiness and overall success for the organization. Slide 18 achieving the Project's three primary objectives has been a successful accomplishment thus far Using various Excel tools and functions, a clean and updated roster for both counties was prepared. This table shows the number of facilities in each county, as well as more information on PT facilities in each city. Slide 19 The second goal was to determine the sort of association that each Physical Therapy had. The red triangle denotes RWj Barnabas' hospitals, whereas the green dot symbolizes facilities associated with other hospital systems. Finally, the blue flag indicates private physician offices, whereas the orange circle represents independent facilities. Slide 20 The final goal was to map and identify possible gaps. In the county of Hudson Both a PT practice and a RWJ facility gap were detected in the Kearny and Harrison region. While in West New York, Seacacus, and Union City, there is a RWJ facility gap. In comparison to Hudson, Essex County had a somewhat better distribution of PT facilities. Despite this, there is a rwj facility gap in Montclair and the surrounding region. Slide 23 The advantage of merging with both of these independent organizations is that their sites are in regions where gaps were found for both counties. Furthermore, because they have facilities all over New Jersey and the initiative is aimed to discover gaps in 8 county service areas across New Jersey, it will also aid in bridging the gaps detected in the remaining counties. Slide 24 The other benefits of the merger would be, reduced costs Many of the costs of running a hospital have nothing to do with technology or medical staff; it has to do with back-office functions. . These systems can alleviate much of the financial burden of back-office functions r by combining the systems’ internal databases to ensure all necessary information is distributed through the entire system on a secure network.

the acquiring partner may already have a building manager, insurance specialist, and human resources department. Transferring these responsibilities to a specialist allows the clinician to spend more time with patients. Not only does this improve the quality of care, but it also opens the door to greater revenue due to the increased number of patients seen. Expanding the size of your administrative staff by or a healthcare services provider can improve claims processing and increase efficient, accurate billing. An acquisition or merger can also increase the size of your member support teams, Slide 26
