What are the inputs, processing, and outputs? Netflix operates on a subscription-based business model. Its system input includes a variety of content and user data. Ie: the subscriber rates the movies/shows that they watched. This information is processed and developed from recommendation algorithms and user behaviour analysis. The outputs include
2 personalized content recommendations. Additionally, Netflix’s goal is to maintain their loyal customers as well as attracting new customers through a continuous cycle of curation and analysis. 2. What were some of the changes that are brought up by the new system? How significant are they? The system that Netflix offers has brought a significant change in the TV industry. Impacts include the rise of on-demand streaming and has disrupted the television programming model as well as the cable industry, influencing how audiences consume and engage with media. The significance is seen between viewer preferences and how its content reaches viewers. 3. What strategic business objectives does the information systems address? Netflix’s information system aligns with several business objectives including; Data-Driven Personalization: By focusing on data analytics, the system aims to enhance personalization and provides tailored content based on user behavior. Global reach and Expansion: The system supports the objective of expanding globally to reach audiences worldwide. Investing in localization means that Netflix can cater to make their content more accessible to global audiences by including subtitles. Technological Innovation: Netflix’s information system ensures its compatibility with various devices and optimizes streaming quality to enhance the users experience. These objectives contribute to Netflix’s goal of maintaining its position as the leading streaming service in the entertainment industry. 4. What people, organization, and technology factors that should have been considered when implementing the system? People factors: - Privacy and security: addressing concerns regarding user data privacy and implementing mandatory security measures to protect customer’s information. Organization factors: - Compliance: Complying to legal and regulatory requirements. This includes content licensing agreements and data protection laws. Technology factors: - Infrastructure: The ability to build and maintain a strong IT infrastructure to support high-quality streaming and data processing. References
