Research a company that has had their wireless network compromised. What could they have
done to prevent the hacker from gaining access?
Hello Class,
Based on the research that I found that had a wireless network attack is a hacker stole 45
million customer records from the parent company of TK Maxx. How the hacker achieved this
was by breaking into the retails company wireless LAN. The company is secured through
Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP). This type of encryption was the standard form of encryption
when it was first introduced in 1997 but is no longer the strongest of them all, with this type of
Wi-Fi security protocol if one user is compromised then the entire network is compromised.
The organization could prevent this from happening again is upgrade their Wi-Fi security
protocol such as Wireless Protected Access 2 - Advance Encryption Standard (WPA2-AES)
because of the increased complexity from the previous protocols.
