Survey Proposal Swaminathan Subramanian The University of Arizona Global Campus BUS625: Data & Decision Analytics (FTB2211B) Prof. Kurt Diesch September 12, 2022
Introduction A sample survey data collected from a limited people will be helpful to understand the larger population and can be useful in estimating some of the attribute that we want to know from that sample population. Based on the responses to question from the survey it will help us to understand the needs and feedbacks of the population. Explain why the survey is being conducted and what is the gain from the survey responses The proposal is to start a grocery, food, and medicines delivery company to the disabled adults of Sacramento. Based on the census there are 350k adults in Sacramento County. It is challenging to find the needs of all of them. So, we want to sample the population by limiting to 1000 adults and conduct the survey to get to know the crowd. The gain from the survey is we can know the frequency of the need of food, groceries and medicines and the amount spend as well as the preferred shops that can be used for purchase. Based on this we will be able to plan a strategy on hiring the people, renting the place and start the business in a small scale. Identify the Types of Data collection 1. Total number of disabled seniors in the community 2. Total number of times groceries delivery required in a month 3. Total number of times restaurant food delivery required in a month 4. Total number of times Medicines delivery required in a month 5. Preferred grocery shop – Walmart, Safeway, Raley’s, Trader- Joes, etc 6. Preferred Pharmacy – Walgreens, CVS, Rite-Aid etc 7. Preferred restaurant- Olive Garden, Panera bread, or Fast foods like McDonald’s, Burger King etc
8. How many of them required Ad-Hoc delivery – Required on a need basis 9. Can the order be made online via internet, or do we need a telephone support? 10. How many of the request is done within 10 miles of the actual location? Outline the parameters for the proposed survey, taking into consideration what management wants to know All Management wants to know about the potential customers we can get to buy our product, profit that we will be making and the return on investment over the years. As most of the management are usually not the “Not for Profit” organization we need to tell the management that we can get minimum of 10k customers in a month, and it can gradually grow to 100k in a year or so. This survey will also help us to build a relationship with the groceries shop, restaurants, and pharmacies to build a working strategy of getting them more business as well as get some percentage of commission which will be our main source of income as we are doing this as a service for the disabled seniors. Create 10 sample questions that will be used in the survey, considering the common issues with survey design 1. What is the total number of times groceries delivery required in a month? 2 4 8 12 more 2. What is the total number of times restaurant food delivery required in a month? 2 4 8 12 more 3. What is the Total number of times Medicines delivery required in a month? 2 4 8 12 more 4. What is the preferred grocery shop to buy groceries?

Wal-Mart Safeway Raley’s (Your preferred) 5. What is the Preferred Pharmacy? Walgreens CVS Rite-Aid (Your preferred) 6. What is the Preferred restaurant from where you want food from? Olive Garden Panera bread (Your preferred) 7. Do you need any Ad-Hoc delivery – Required on a need basis 8. Can the order be made online via internet, or do we need a telephone support? Online Telephone 9. What is your requested order miles from your actual location? 2 5 10 15 More 10. Do you prefer annual membership or pay per use? Annual Membership 125$ Pay per use 5$ Explain the reasoning for choosing the sample questions Based on the sample question we will be able to find the number of customers who want to enroll to the program. Once we know we can get to 1000 customers who might like this option then we can start the product by developing an APP in the mobile and create a website and share the URL as well as see if we need to have a telephone operator who can talk the order via phone. Also based on the preferences to the stores, restaurants, and pharmacies we can align with a loyalty program and get a percentage of sales as a commission which can be used to pay the employees as the annual membership will not be enough to run the company.
Conclusion: The idea of sampling, randomizing and survey will provide a clear understanding of what is the need based on our product selection. Helping the needy disabled seniors is the motto of our products and this will provide a great satisfaction for the management as well as the volunteers who want to do this as a service to the elderly people. We can also pool in money from some of the charity organizations who want to participate in supporting this product so it can help to pay the gas and some tips to the volunteers who want to do this service.
