Analyzing Quality Data Swaminathan Subramanian The University of Arizona Global Campus BUS625: Data & Decision Analytics (FTB2211B) Prof. Kurt Diesch September 26, 2022
Introduction Data plays a critical role in all kinds of industries across the world to better understand their customers needs, check their competitor’s product sales, pattern on the items sold and breakthrough their target goals to increase profit. Identifies Data Useful in Assessing Quality Control Data is critical for any given business as it helps to analyze the information and knowledge and turning that data into an extract called statistics. Using this statistics w can use different tool to get the patterns and trends of the information that we want. Data is especially useful in assessing quality control by providing the information of the quality of the product in terms of weight, accuracy, and it is the right type that is produced for the business intent. It provides the gaps or the missing piece in the quality and when we take a large volume of sample this data can be analyzed on where is the error prone area or how many are default pieces in a sample of 1000 and the critical data points like accuracy, quality assurance, serviceability and accessibility are measured and corrected based on the data analysis. Once the quality is corrected the improved data will help in better decision making and high-quality products can be delivered. So, data is key for the success of the organization and good data will decrease risk and will help to provide consistent improvements and get better results and allows the company to effectively determine the root cause of the problems and helps them to fix it immediately based on the priority and severity of the problems.
Discuss the strategy for identifying key data points including the type of data gathered and where to find the data. The Strategy we should be using here is predictive analysis from start to finish on the current operations with all kind of scenarios and extract the data on the quality of the products manufactured. There is a six-stage process in predictive analysis 1. Business understanding – Understand the requirements 2. Data understanding – Examine the data and identify the problems in the data 3. Data preparation – Fix problems in the data, create a new quality derived variable 4. Modeling – Built predictive and descriptive models 5. Evaluation – Assess the model for quality checks on the new fixed models 6. Deployment – After quality checks are passed then start deploying the new defect free products Determine the best way to present the data considering the data visualization tool For this scenario there is a decline in sales and there are some improvements in the quality control practices. It is clear that we have some issues in producing quality products. To address this issue one of the best tools is Pareto chart which is an immensely powerful tool in showing the relative importance of the problems. This Pareto principle is called as 80/20 rule which means 80% of the effects comes from 20% of the causes. For example, in this case we know there is decline in sales which is due to issues in quality control. So, it is obvious reasons that there are 1. 80% of sales comes from 20% of the clients 2. 80% of complains comes from 20% of the customers.

So as a Data analyst we need to collect this information on the products, sales, complaints, and defects and come up with a Pareto chart and analyze the data. This will help us to concentrate our efforts on the factors that has the highest impact. Also helps us to communicate it to the leadership on the rationale for focusing on certain areas. Summarize creating Quality control proposal for the company including key points to consider quality control Quality control is the heart for any type of industry as Quality matters more than anything for a product. Based on the recent trend customers will complaint if the quality is not met and they will complaint about it in all social media writing reviews.
The proposal is to follow the preliminary steps to setup an excellent quality control system 1. Establish a quality standard – Making sure the product meets the requirement with high quality standard and minimal deviation from the standard 2. Establish a section to evaluate quality – There should be a subject matter expert section who continuously keep evaluating the quality of the product for any deviation from standard 3. Establish an Inspection standard – Frequent inspection and audit to be done on the tested products to make sure no human error occurs in the quality evaluation 4. Investigation of current state of quality – The quality must be investigated across all phases of the product example, Raw material, operator efficiency, design error and machine efficiency. 5. Selection of Inspection method – Need to get latest technology to inspect and automate the inspection to avoid manual errors. Conclusion: In the manufacturing world or any kind of industry it is challenging to maintain a required level of standard without management and the employees working in each company. Quality should be the mission and vision for all companies, and it should start from the training to have a basic thinking. Data is one of the best tools to review the patterns, trends and customer needs to analyze and provide statistical data to rectify all the problems and address the needs of customers.
