introduction:
Digital security is a core concept of encryption. It’s seen as the main resource when sensitive information. In this assignment, I focused on the Axcrypt encryption application which is well known for using 128-bit AES encryption to ensure protection while being user friendly. On here, I’ll go over the application’s functionality and how it will encrypt and decrypt a specific file. Although the task was very challenging because of software updates there will be many skills that resulted in using this. Project Results:
The results that came about on this assignment included encryption of a document and being able to self-decrypt an executable type of file. The executable file had the ability to be opened without using the
Axcrypt software, therefore it showed how unique the tool can be. The needed screenshot was documented and thoroughly gathered evidence of the functionality of the application. Challenges Encountered:
There were many challenges throughout the completion of the assignment. The main one was working alongside the original steps given by the textbook and the complex Axcrypt interface which underwent recent updates. Since the software went under many changes, it was difficult to find many of the features asked for in the instructions. Due to it being renamed or moved to a different part of the application, this required a different approach to the task and resulted in more time being used. Along with being skeptical at first, the instructions were also flawed because I didn’t know I had to get a subscription and it comes with the fear of not canceling it on time. This made me take a different approach to the assignment and resulted in more time being spent. Ultimately, by being flexible and thorough in navigating the updated layout the main goal was still met. Critical thinking skills were emphasized to work in a continually changing environment. Conclusion:
The Axcrpt application was a primary focus as it serves as a platform for file encryption. Also, the project was a very challenging hands-on experience while training me on decryption methods. It showed me its ability to be secure and safe software to put my sensitive information in which is a huge concern of many, including me in this society. Although it was unexpected to be met with software that was unexpected, the overall objectives were eventually completed. The skills that I’ve gained with this assignment such as problem solving, and precision will aid in navigating our digital world where ideas and technology are updating and changing every day.
