Training Exercises
Discuss a training exercise that has taken place in your city or state. What agencies were
involved and for what threat or hazard were they training?
The Center for Domestic Preparedness carried out a training exercise to impart different
security agencies in the state to learn to combat explosives. The training focused on the creation
of effective responses to counter the worst attacks. It entailed the training of officers in the ATF,
State Police units and the FBI (Nemeth, 2016). The fundamental objective was to equip the
specified officers with the adequate professional knowledge and skill to handle the cases. The
exercise took a long while and the neighborhood was informed about the on-going exercise. No
one was displaced because the secluded place was a bit far from residential places (Nemeth,
2016). It went well without any noise or commotion from the training ground and camps.
The Center for Domestic Preparedness aimed to inculcate knowledge on handling threats
from an environment that is biologically affected. The fundamentality of the training centralized
on providing unmatched skills in managing threat incidents and responding to the masses when
they happen. The training focused on producing effective first-responders through the different
departments that the exercise targeted (Leinhos, Qari, & Williams-Johnson, 2014). Terrorist and
non-terrorist attacks can come in many forms and in this case, chemical contamination was the
target for the exercise. It required the professional education and practical lessons that could
provide this expertise with the wholeness that the Center for Domestic Preparedness wanted. The
U.S must have constant protection from any form of security threats and even the worst attacks
require preparedness (Fry-Pierce & Lenze, 2011). Nuclear attacks that come in the form of

chemical contamination such as the purpose of this training are the reason that the Department of
Homeland Security continues to carry out these refresher programs (Fry-Pierce & Lenze, 2011).
In this program, I learned that a nation’s security is something that the government must
constantly keep in check for the ultimate protection of the general citizenry.
