For each part below there are two statements; one represents the traditional
view and the other the project organizational view. Identify each one.

Project organizational view: “Conflict is part of change and is therefore
inevitable.”

Project organizational view: “Conflict is determined by the structure of
the system and the relationship among components.”

Traditional view: “Conflict is bad.”
Working with Executives
Question 2:
How should project managers react when they find inefficiency in the
functional lines? Should executive management become involved?
The reaction of the project managers towards inefficiency in the functional
lines depends on the severity of the inefficiency. It is would be appropriate
for the project managers to first assess the inefficiency to be able to know
how to develop a solution. If after speaking to functional managers and
monitoring the implementation of the solution, there is no change, the
inefficiency remains major then reaching out to the executive management
will be a good idea.
The Variables for Success
Question 3:
What is an effective working relationship among project managers
themselves?
There are several things that count as an effective working relationship
among project managers such as a relationship where project managers
have clear communications, which make it possible to know who needs help
before it is too late, and everyone suffers for it. Also being collaborative and
supportive constitute as effective relationship as project managers can come
together to achieve a certain goal related to the project. This in hand will
breed respect, trust, knowledge sharing and professionalism, making an
effective environment.
