CJ 205 Project Two: Reports and Communications
The purpose of the written reports of communications within a law enforcement agent agency
is to communicate the situation that occurred while you were on duty. As well as what were your
actions you took to make sure the situation had the best possible outcome allowed. Even if it ended in
the loss of life was the ultimate end to the situation at hand a detailed explanation of the situation and
the steps taken to deescalate the situation as well as the orders given to the person of interest.
There are different types of communications that businesses and agencies use such as a press release:
This is typically done after an investigation has been concluded there is some information that is
divulged to the public for example if an inmate were to escape police custody and law enforcement
has done their due diligence through an investigation and is now reaching out to the public for
information that anyone may have to help further bring the case to a close sometimes offering
rewards as an incentive to cooperate. This is known to be one of the most effective ways of reaching
the generations that will watch the news feed to get information about the world. Then there is a
social media post where detailed information can be shared without the hassle of setting up a press
conference with news stations. Typically, it can be shared and spread like wildfire with the world
seamlessly connected via the internet. For communications within the walls of the agency there are
Internal Reports to which the entire agency has access and will have more sensitive information that
is deemed unnecessary for the public to know until it can be determined. Other times it can hold the
names of witness statements who need to be protected.

On Monday, Jan 7
th,
2019 at approximately 0230hrs I Officer Smtih was dispatched to a 911
made A witness to an accident was a bystander in a black BMW call where a singular motor vehicle
accident occurred on the west side of the bridge from the Beachside city into the Main City. A male
and female both in their early 20s were in the Blk SUV license plate #YME 007 that crashed. Upon
my arrival, I observed some open containers in the floorboard of the driver and passenger side of the
vehicle. At this, it is to be determined whether alcohol was a cause of the accident. Upon arrival a call
was made to fire and rescue upon their arrival at approximately 0235hrs the paramedics triaged them
and transported both victims to Main City Trauma at approximately 0254hrs. Despite all best efforts
at that time, the male victim expired in the emergency department, the female victim is still
unresponsive and in critical condition. During the incident there were some news choppers flying
over recording the scene, we held back the traffic around the bridge on the westbound and eastbound
roadways, while the two victims were in the hospital, we were able to confirm the identities of the
male victim as the son of the mayor. There was an inquiry about the identity of the male victim
having been the son of the mayor, information of the incident was given to the reporters were told of
the basic details of the vehicle, location, and nature of the accident we confirmed nor denied the
inquiry of the identity of the male being the mayor’s son.
