In this part of the lab, you will be identifying different mineral samples, by conducting virtual tests on each sample, and using a mineral key to identify the sample based on the test results. To complete the lab, you will now need to navigate to the following link: http://profharwood.x10host.com/GEOL101/Labs/Minerals/index.htm . The material posted on this page is a good complement to the background information you’ve already read from above. After you have read through the materials, scroll down to the bottom and click on the link for Sample 1. For each sample, you will need to identify a number of different properties for each mineral. This can be accomplished by making visual observations or conducting a number of different tests, as provided by the website. You will need to fill in the table on page 3, with the answers for each column for each sample, and then also identify the mineral sample by name in the last column.
