When water runs over soap, the sharp edges gradually soften as they come into contact with the water. The portions where water flows carry away soap particles, causing those areas to be washed off along with the water. This process blunts the edges of the soap as the grains are removed by the water droplets.
Flowing water washes away soap grains, effectively removing them from the soap. The water also dissolves minerals present in the soap, contributing to its weathering until external forces can no longer move it further. This process exemplifies physical weathering.
The chalk bubbles and fizzes as a chemical reaction occurs, causing its surface to dissolve. This process results in a smoother appearance and increased brittleness.
When vinegar is added to the chalk, a chemical reaction initiates, leading to the disintegration of parts of the chalk and altering its physical characteristics and chemical composition. The products of this reaction include carbon dioxide (seen as bubbles), water, and a calcium compound. This process exemplifies chemical weathering.
The lid on the tub poped off after 24 hours.
When the dried beans are mixed with water, the water is absorbed by the beans, which rehydrates and makes them larger. The container and its surroundings are under strain due to the expansion. The pressure builds up since there is nowhere for it to release, and finally it gets powerful enough to push against the lid and pop it off. A case of biological weathering occurs here.
