Recommendation
To address the challenge of anticipating and analyzing the possible outcomes of choosing an
inland port and a logistic DC in the prairies was a demurring task. All the three options from
Regina, Calgary and Winnipeg.
However, upon discussion with our group, we decided to go for Regina’s Global Transportation
Hub, due to many reasons which would allow the company to reach their objectives and achieve
reasonable growth.
At the northern intersection of this developing continental transportation network is Regina's
GTH. The main reasons for placing the GTH close to Regina were the city's central location, the
intersection of the CP main line and Soo Lines, two important highways, notably the Trans-
Canada, and easy access to trained labor.
Additionally, our location improves the effectiveness of shipping from Asia to North America:
Compared to Los Angeles, Vancouver offers faster delivery times to and from China.
When comparing multiple driving distances, it was also observed by our group that Regina had
an appropriate amount of driving distances amongst the others. Furthermore, our reasoning to
choose Regina as an inland port is also due to other economic reasons such as :
-
Duties are waived or rebated later
-
Exemption from federal and provincial sales tax
-
Customs bonded warehouse
The GTH offers facilities and services for companies seeking to establish logistics operations.
This includes storage areas, distribution facilities, and logistical support services that can be
beneficial to the distribution center.

If we based our

In summary, establishing the distribution center at the Global Transportation Center in Regina
offers a central strategic location, access to important transportation routes, intermodal services
and logistical facilities. These factors, combined with the infrastructure and support available at
the GTH, make Regina a viable and strategic option to support sales on the Prairies.
