1. Describe the Humid Subtropical Climate (Cfa). Ground your description in that of the textbook, but the discussion must be in your own words. - The Humid Subtropical Climate is a climate that consists of hot summers and cold/mild winters. 2. In what region of the United States does the Cfa climate exist? - Southeast region 3. Name four countries of the world, other than the U.S., that have areas with the Cfa Climate. - Argentina , Jordan, Brazil, and China 4. Describe the Tropical RainForest Climate (Af). Ground your description in that of the textbook, but the description must be in your own words. - The tropical rainforest climate is warm and gets a lot of heavy rainfall due to the amount of thunderstorms. 5. Name three countries of the world that have areas with an Af climate - Bangladesh, brazil, and indonesia 6. Describe the Hot Desert (BWh) climate. As before, ground your description in that of the textbook, but the description must be in your own words. - The hot desert climate is the area that receives the least amount of rainfall. They receive very hot temperatures during summer with temperatures above 100 degrees. 7. In what region of the United States does the BWh climate exist? - In the southwest 8. Name four countries of the world, other than the U.S., that have areas with the BWh Climate. - Peru, Iraq, Iran, Dubai 9. Describe the Arctic (E) climates, and explain the difference between ET and EF climates. Note that my ArcGIs map has an additional category for EH, meaning Arctic Highland areas, i.e., very cold areas at high elevation but not near the North or South poles. As before, ground your description in that of the textbook, but the description must be in your own words. - The arctic climates have very cold winters and cool summers. The difference between ET and EF climates is that ET climates are very cold in winter and warmer in summer. EF climates are very cold all year round. 10. In what region of North America does the ET climate prevail? - The ET climate prevails in Canada and alaska. 11. Name four countries of the world, other than the U.S., that have areas with E Climates. - Russia, Iceland, Greenland, Norway 12. In what hemispheres do the D climates appear?
- Northern hemisphere 13. Why are they called 'continental' climates, as opposed to maritime climates? - They are called continental climates because they have super cold winters and short but very hot summers. They also receive their wind from land and not the water. 14. In what hemisphere does the continental climate NOT appear? Why? - Southern hemisphere because there is no continent there to make a climate effect. 15. The statement does not discuss climate change directly. Why might this be so? - This map does not discuss climate change directly because the new map does not have content of climate change and it is not the main topic. 16. Do you think climate change is implied in any part of the discussion? If so, where? - I think climate change is implied in parts of this discussion. In the article it talks about plant hardiness zone designations and new methods for mapping zones between weather stations. 17. Do you think the data used to make the map illustrates climate change - Yes, I think the data used to make the map illustrates climate change. 18. Describe in your own words the differing regional changes in precipitation that the map shows. In your answer, define ‘anomaly’ with reference to the ‘base period’. Look at the legend carefully, and use it to characterize how different regions of the U.S. are faring with regard to precipitation. Who is getting more rain? Who is getting less? - The map shows more precipitation in the east which means there is less of a chance for there to be precipitation in the west. Anomaly is defined as the difference from the average temperature. 19. Download the map to your computer, and then upload it in Google Drive under your BU account. Once uploaded, go open the map. Make sure that "anyone can view it” under the "manage access" option on the right. As before, describe in your own words the differing regional changes but this time for temperature. Where is it anomalously warmer? Cooler? - It seems to be warmer in the north and west but cooler in the east. 21. Download your map, and provide a Google Drive link to it, making sure to share it so that ‘anyone with the link can view’. No credit for broken or inaccessible links, no possibility of re-doing the submission.

Are the anomalies the same for the same regions? - The anomalies are the same for both regions because they both show that it's cooler in the south and the east and have more precipitation. It is also warmer in the north and the west.
