Zero Hunger
Responsible consumption and protection
Life on Land
Good Health and Well Being
Zero Hunger
Positives:
Solving zero hunger will
lead to responsible consumption and sustainable ecosystems for people and animals.
Negatives: Eradicating zero hunger
will make it hard to ensure that everyone is
consuming a responsible amount and protecting the environment.
Positives:
Ensuring zero hunger allows life on land to thrive and grow. This will lead to sustainable
life within communities.
Negatives: Obtaining zero hunger could lead to less life on land due to unsustainable farming methods.
Positives:
Zero hunger will lead to good health and well-being by providing healthy sustainable food to ensure people can thrive and live though all ages
Negatives:
Providing zero hunger can make it difficult to ensure that a healthy life is providable and may only provide limited
food options that may not be healthy.
Responsible Consumptio
n and Protection
Positives:
Responsible consumption
will lead to people having
access to food worldwide
while still being sustainable.
Negatives:
It will be hard to monitor what responsible consumption will be like with everyone having access to food and may cause over consumption.
Positives: Having responsible consumption and protection can protect ecosystems and can create sustainable food
sources for people and
animals.
Negatives:
We are harming life on
land to make sure that there is something for us to consume and the
demand may not keep up with the supply.
Positives:
Responsible consumption will lead to everyone having a sustainable, healthy
living situation while being protected.
Negatives:
Life on Land
Positives:
This means that all life on
land can have a healthy food chain.
Positives:
Protecting life on land and creating sustainable ecosystems Positives:
Life on land will thrive due to everyone getting
Negatives:
Some animal conservations spaces may be repurposed to farmland this will lead to a form of sustainability but not all sustainability.
will allow responsible consumption
Negatives:
Creating an environment sustainable enough to support life on land and
responsible consumption will be very difficult to achieve.
proper healthcare and having good well being. People will be able to live full happy lives within their community.
Negatives:
Life on land will decrease as good health and well being will increase with a poor sustainability plan in place.
Good Health and Well Being
Positives:
Providing good health and well-being will allow people to not worry about hunger and will able to live sustainably.
Negatives:
Providing good health and well being for everyone could cause people not to be the healthiest possible if making sure that zero hunger is possible while also making quality of life
better than it was before but not the best possible.
Positives:
Good health and well being will promote responsible consumption and sustainability within communities.
Negatives:
The community may over consume to provide good health and well-being for all within a community leading to irresponsible
consumption.
Positives:
Providing good health and well being will allow more people to focus on creating sustainable ecosystems for life on land.
Negatives:
Providing good health and well being may decrease land space for life on land when it comes to pollution and
the gathering of materials to provide a good life and well being.

Questions
Q1. The goal is the overall goal of what an SDG is. There are 17 SDG goals and these are all goals created to make the world a sustainable place to live. The goal of an SDG is what the SDG
is trying to do. An example of a goal for an SDG would be “protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably mange forests, combat desertification and halt and reverse degradation and halt biodiversity cost.” This goal is taken from SDG 15, life on land. The target is when the goals should start to take an effect in a smaller way. The majority of
targets have a date for when they want to complete these targets and cross it off a list. An example of a target is “
By 2020, ensure the conservation, restoration and sustainable use of terrestrial and inland freshwater ecosystems and their services, in particular forests, wetlands, mountains and drylands, in line with obligations under international agreements.” This is target 15.1 from SDG 15. The indicators are what shows the proof of the targets and why the target is needed. This shows reasoning for why these targets are important and how they bring sustainability to the ecosystem. AN example of this is “promotion of important sites for terrestrial and freshwater biodiversity that are covered and protected areas, by ecosystem type.” This is indicator 15.1.2. This gives the reasoning for why the target is important and how the goal will be completed. That is how the goals, targets and indicators are all different. They all serve their own purpose to accomplish a bigger part of the picture while still working individually.
Q2. The differences between synergies and trade-offs defined by Nilsson et al. he describes synergies as positives interactions and trade-offs as negative interactions. These positive and negative effects describe what the outcome is leading to and how it effects the world or the other SDGs in the community. A positive effect is solving zero hunger, but a negative effect is that the world is over consuming food and products to make that happen. There is a positive effect (synergy) and a negative effect (trade off). These positive and negative effects come with every decision that is being made the only thing that is doable is making it the least negative as possible as per the seven-step goal scoring that is shown in the text. If you can find a positive interaction that scores +3 and a negative interaction that scores -1 you are still left +2 for the total interaction which will be a positive interaction overall. The whole goal of these interactions
is to base them so that no goals make it impossible for other goals to be completed and creating
an infrastructure with these positive and negative interactions. This is so that it is possible to change and adapt in the future so that the potions can be the most positive and ideally no negative interactions with other SDG goals for the future. This is how the positive and negative interactions work as described by Nilsson et al, 2016 and how they will apply to now and the future in the development of SDGs.
Q3.
The important interactions that I have found have been that even though SDGs have synergies they also have trade-offs that counteract each other. Even though the overall goal can be completed it may make it difficult to have the SDGs be accomplished and will take additional time to develop and put the other SDGs into effect. This means that with all 17 SDG’s there’s going to be trade-offs that slow down the process of completing these goals as a whole and

everything will always need to constantly be changing and finding new solutions to have the SDG in place.
The synergies on the other hand show how the SDG’s work together which is a good thing. Having completed an SDG another SDG could have some completion to it and already would have improved due to more development in the other SDG groups. This can rapidly speed
up the process of these sustainable development goals and focusing on completing the goals will improve sustainability worldwide.
The problem that I see happening is with the trade-offs with the SDG’s. I may have a negative outlook on this, but it is truly just my thought process on how the world should attack completing these SDGs based on my findings above. I think that completing all the SDGs to make life a little better as soon as possible should be prioritized based on my findings. There are
going to be a lot of synergies but also a lot of trade-offs to do this. But once to a point where the SDG is technically completed, and all synergies are working together life will overall just be better and more sustainable. Then at this point there needs to be a redirect in focus to try and remove as many trade-offs as possible. Through my findings and what I have seen the analogy I think of this is two steps forward and one step back and even though there may be a step back the world is still taking a step forward to be more sustainable.
I think that with the trade-offs and the synergies it needs to be looked at how much can we complete at one time rather than completing it fully without any trade-offs because that will
prolong the process and as a community, I think that everyone should become sustainable and focus on become more sustainable later.
This is what I feel needs to happen with SDGs as creating a sustainable environment is more important now more than ever with all the recent events with Covid 19 and the impact it had on the world, as a global community we need to be ready, and we need to be sustainable this way we can be prepared for whatever is next to come. Especially now with climate change we need to take action and reduce greenhouse gasses and ensure that whatever we do that has
a negative effect on this planet has a more positive effect to ensure that no damage has been done.
Q4. I do think that as a global community we should be tracking and reporting the progress of all individual countries working on SDG targets. This is very beneficial to see that countries are developing and growing sustainability to grow their country. This can help show unity and the entire world has an opportunity share strategy on how they’re progress is being made for the benefit of not only themselves but the entire world. I think this gives a chance for the world to see the bigger picture of what everyone is trying to do and gives a sense of unity and peace within the world for these development goals and allows relationships that no one thought was possible to be made. As there are 193 countries in the United Nations who all support the goal and the cause economic and social affairs it does give an opportunity for everyone to be nice and create global sustainability that can help every country have access to all basic needs worldwide. I think that these goals need to be completed even if your country has access to these needs for the general population. Sustainability is something that is very important, and it
is something that needs to be our problem. This will allow the community to keep growing the SDGs and making it possible that future generations will have a framework and a system that
already is proven to work. This will make life easier in the future and will make sure that sustainability will still be a focus so that development will never stop. The goal of sustainability is so that everyone on earth can have access to basic needs without taking a toll and overusing resources that will make it difficult for the future generations. Q5. “The six SDG transformations are modular building blocks of SDG achievement.” The six SDGs strive for prosperity and sustainability for the future generations. The six SDGs are: education, gender and inequality, health, well being and demography, energy decarbonization and sustainable industry, sustainable food, land, water and oceans, sustainable cities and communities and digital revolution for sustainable development. These six transformations will shape the future of society and are set to be the base goals in a way. These SDGs “engage a different subset of business and civil society.” It shows the basis for what needs to be done to apply these transformations and make a change within your society and eventually the world. All of these interactions have cross cutting themes as well as they all want to better the world. These SDGs were grouped together for a reason as they focus on the main issues with the world
right now with gender discrimination being very prominent and the water sources oceans and life on land have endangered species with animals being hunted for trophies and the coral reef being under attack by the CO2 in the ocean. They all focus on current problems that need to be fixed so that we can preserve and not face extinction as these parts of the SDG is a part of our normal way of life. These all have drastic effects if they were to fail and not even have the chance to be developed and would make life much harder due to us waiting to long and it eventually being to late. The only problem with this is that I feel that not enough countries care enough to give enough resources to actually make a change other than a publicity stunt. There needs to be cause for actual change and to get results around the world for these issues.
