GEOG 181-Lab 4 Tasks 1. Create the following proportional symbol maps. Export them as PNG files and insert them into your assignment document. a. Total population that is 65 and over for each of the Canadian provinces (10 marks) b. Total population that is 65 and over for each census division in Ontario (10 marks)
c. Total population that is 65 and over for each census subdivision in the Toronto census metropolitan area (CMA) (10 marks) 2. Create one more proportional symbol map using one of the available attributes of your choice in the provided data. (10 marks)
3. For the map you just made, describe what the map is showing with words. What level of geography did you use? Which attribute? Describe/identify any exciting patterns that are present. (5 marks) This map identifies the Broad Age Group of 0-14 residing in Ontario as of 2016, by census divisions. For this map, I used Census divisions to illustrate the population spread of youth within Ontario. To make this map I used the attribute “98-402-X2016002-T1-CD-eng_Broad Age Groups: 0 to 14 (2016 Counts).” This allows me to use the most up-to-date data. There is a significant pattern within this map. The majority of the youth population between the ages of 0-14 reside within the Greater Toronto Area, also known as the Toronto Metropolitan Area.
