Unit 3 Assessment: Source Comparison Part 1
In the article by Jill Castle, 9 Lessons I’ve Learned About Feeding Kids (2018), the author is presumably addressing parents of children specifically parents learning to feed train their children. The purpose of this article is to educate people on how to feed their children while also discussing the importance of a healthy balanced diet. The main points of this article are the nine lessons this pediatric dietician, Jill Castle, has learned through her experience both professionally and personally (Castle, 2018).
Part 2
In the article by Hiershenee Luesse et al (2018), Challenges and Facilitators to promoting a Healthy Food Environment and Communicating Effectively with Parents to Improve Food Behaviors of School Children, the purpose can be assumed to be, investigating ways to promote healthy eating habits in low income environments. The suggested audience of this article is assumed to be dietary professionals in the school environment for low income areas. Part 3
While comparing the two articles from part 1 and part 2 one can see that there are many differences between the two, but their main similarity is the focus on childhood health and dietary education. The article in part 1 by Jill Castle (2018), has more of a personal approach to the subject, citing
her own personal experiences with her family as well as her professional career; however, in the article by
Luesse et al (2018), the authors have citied multiple studies and authors to validate their claims. Also in Castle’s work, healthy eating habits in secondary to proper feed training by parents, but in Luesse’s et al work the primary focus is the overall health of children to reduce childhood obesity.
