some of the most popular social media platforms today, such as Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn (

Ahmad: Social media has come a long way. It’s not just about sharing cat videos anymore! In recent years, it has evolved into a powerful communication tool. People connect, share content, and build communities across the globe. Facebook, launched in 2004, revolutionized social media. It connected people globally, introduced features like the news feed, and paved the way for other platforms. Platforms like Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube followed suit, each
catering to specific content types and audiences. The platforms have become part of many of our daily lives. Social media evolved from personal connections to a powerful marketing tool. Today, 4.9 billion people use social media worldwide. It’s a way to connect, strengthen brands, build loyal customer bases, and increase revenue.

Ahmad
:In the realm of social media, users often engage with popular jargon and buzzwords. Hashtags, such as #Oscars or #Emmys during major events, categorize and connect users to trending topics. Algorithms, integral to platform functionality like Instagram's, dictate content visibility based on user engagement. Influencers, social media personalities with substantial
followings, impact trends and endorse products, influencing purchasing decisions. Users may share experiences to evoke FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) among followers, often posting about popular events or destinations. Memes, like the "Distracted Boyfriend," foster cultural conversations through humorous or relatable visual content. This lexicon highlights the dynamic language of the digital social sphere.
3.
Why is it important for individuals and businesses alike to understand these terms for effective social media use? (

)

: Understanding key social media terms is paramount for both individuals and businesses to navigate these platforms effectively. Hashtags enhance content visibility and audience reach, while knowledge of algorithms ensures optimized content delivery. Recognizing
the influence of influencers allows strategic collaborations and marketing efforts. Awareness of concepts like FOMO aids in creating engaging content, fostering user participation. Familiarity with viral trends and memes ensures cultural relevance and content resonance. Prioritizing authenticity builds trust, and adapting to digital trends through user behavior insights facilitates effective market research. Ultimately, this comprehensive understanding empowers users to strategically communicate, enhance brand image, and stay adaptable in the dynamic landscape
of social media.

Individuals (
Ahmad
)
On social media, where attention spans are fleeting, visuals and multimedia are king. Images, videos, and infographics break through the text clutter, instantly grabbing attention and making complex information easier to digest. This not only increases the chances of your message being seen, but also helps individuals understand it quickly and remember it longer. It's a powerful tool for effective communication on a platform built for quick, engaging content.

Personal Experiences and Anecdotes
5. Has any businesses social media influenced you to buy their product where you otherwise wouldn’t have? (
Ahmad
/ Quather
)
Ahmad : One day, a compelling social media ad showcasing a cutting-edge smartwatch caught my attention. Intrigued by its promises of advanced health tracking and stylish design, I clicked through to explore further. The brand's page provided comprehensive product details, glowing customer reviews, and a time-sensitive offer. The positive testimonials and the brand's active engagement in the comments section swayed my decision, and the exclusive limited-time
discount became the deciding factor. With a seamless online purchasing process, the smartwatch arrived promptly, exceeding my expectations. This experience highlighted the impactful role of a well-crafted social media ad in introducing me to and ultimately influencing my decision to purchase a product I hadn't initially considered. Has any business social media ad influenced you?
Ikbal : Looking back on last year, I remember scrolling through Instagram and stumbling upon a TEMU ad with the hashtag #ShopLikeABillionaire. The limited-time offers got me hooked, so I clicked, downloaded their app, and spent nearly two hours exploring. Eventually, I decided on a phone charger and placed an order. The excitement faded when the charger arrived weeks later, and the quality didn't match their fancy ads. I learnt my lesson and started to verify the authenticity of Temu. found out they spy on their customers and steal confidential users information. And many experts suggested not to shop on Temu.
6. What problems do people often encounter on social media, especially with authenticating individuals and businesses, and how can they deal with these issues? (
Ahmad
/ Quather
)
Ahmad: Navigating social media presents several challenges, including the authenticity of individuals and businesses. One common issue is the prevalence of misinformation and fake news. Users can overcome this by fact-checking information before sharing and relying on credible sources. Another challenge is the pressure to present an idealized version of oneself, leading to a lack of authenticity. Overcoming this involves embracing genuineness, sharing real experiences, and fostering open communication. Privacy concerns are also prominent, requiring
users to regularly review and adjust their privacy settings, be cautious about the information they share, and stay informed about platform policies. The temptation to succumb to online trends or make impulsive purchases based on flashy advertisements, as in the case of your experience with TEMU, can be addressed by practicing critical thinking, researching brands thoroughly, and checking reviews and testimonials before engaging. Ultimately, fostering digital literacy, maintaining a discerning mindset, and being proactive about privacy are key in navigating social media successfully.
