Coke or Pepsi
Coca-Cola serves as a far superior soft drink than Pepsi. This is a timeless beverage that emits a
true sense of nostalgia and comfort, enjoyed for endless generations. Every sip of its famous red
label and bold, sweet taste produces a passionate connection that excels it beyond only being a
beverage. This drink is rather a symbol of collective and special memories. Every first opening
of a can or bottle of Coca-Cola immediately sends our minds to joyous memories and times of
youth. This unmatched ability to summon deep feelings, build lasting connections, and deliver a
perfect experience every time, proves why Coca-Cola is superior to Pepsi in every way.
In this argumentation piece about Coke or Pepsi, I chose to imitate the author, Jesse Nathan, in
the article, Baseball Has Lost Its Poetry for The New York Times, and their pathos rhetoric
throughout their text. As the overall topics of the chosen article and this argumentation piece
differed greatly, it was difficult to truly encapsulate the feeling drawn by Nathan in their article.
The author used vivid imagery and because of their ability to write the length of a full article,
could include many other stylistic choices and literary elements. While I could not perfectly
imitate the writing style of the author of Baseball Has Lost Its Poetry, I do feel that the
argumentation piece I wrote provided the rhetoric with the pathos appeal similarly being used to
attempt to elicit emotion from the reader. I am an avid Coca-Cola drinker and greatly prefer it to
Pepsi. I wanted to provide my readers with the opportunity to feel that enjoyment with me and
persuade them you could not achieve this enjoyment with a Pepsi.
