English Composition 1 Kawsar Sayed Alem November 22, 2022 Mental Health versus Physical Health Introduction Every time people are asked about their health, the first thing that comes to their mind is their physical health. In this world, we see many people concerned about their physical health, but unfortunately, they ignore their mental health. People need to know that they are far more likely to experience mental health issues if they have physical health issues, and vice versa. According to my perspective, the main culprit causing any disease is the stress that our bodies develop, and although maintaining our physical health is critical for keeping our body in good shape and working properly, maintaining our mental health is just as crucial for leading a healthy and fulfilling life. Mental Health Negative self-talk, low energy levels, changes in mood or behavior, loneliness, difficulty managing stress, changes in sleeping or eating routines, and feelings of sadness or depression are all signs of poor mental health. The appearance of such symptoms does not imply that a person is suffering from a mental illness. When symptoms of poor mental health become common and begin to interfere with the capacity to physically function in daily life, it is considered to be a mental illness. Some major examples of mental illness are schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, eating disorders, and addiction. People with mental
illness experience changes in how their bodies work, which may have a negative effect on their physical health. These adjustments include addressing abnormal stress hormone levels and insomnia. Physical Health I would define physical health by saying that it is the physical condition of an individual's body. People who are in good physical shape and engage in regular physical activity have more energy throughout the day, have better sleep, feel more at ease, and have more optimistic thoughts about their lives. In addition to lengthening your life, improving physical fitness and health can also lift individuals' spirits and help shield them from mental disease. Chronic diseases like type 2 diabetes, depression, heart disease, and cancer are less likely to affect an individual if they lead a healthy lifestyle and engage in regular physical activity. More about mental and physical health To begin with physical health, I would say that if a person has a serious physical illness then he or she can seek meditation from a doctor based on the disease that his or her body has developed. For example, a heart patient will seek help from a heart doctor, a person who has skin problems will go to a dermatologist, and to cure toothache, a person will go to the dentist, but to cure mental illness, a person can either visit a psychiatrist or a psychologist. Unfortunately, many people feel ashamed while talking about their mental illness. If a person has cancer, he or she can speak openly about the disease; however, if a person is depressed, he or she prefers to remain silent out of fear of being judged by society. People need to know that there are many people all over the world who are suffering from serious mental illness and do not go for treatment because they might
think that they are the only ones who are suffering from anxiety or depression. Another piece of advice I can give to those who are not comfortable reaching out to a mental health specialist is to contact a close family member or a close friend or to find someone who will listen to you without judging you and can help you deal with your illness and bring joy and hope back into your life. The relationship between exercise and diseases Exercise is one of the best ways to treat issues, whether mental or physical. It has the ability to cure mild to moderate depression just as successfully as antidepressants. This is due to the fact that physical activity encourages a variety of changes in the brain, such as neuronal growth and a decrease in inflammation. Moreover, it also causes our bodies to feel good, stay calm, and be relaxed, which results in preventing the causes of chronic heart disease, cancer, and many other diseases. Conclusion The relationship between mental and physical health is sometimes overlooked since the mind and body are thought of as two distinct things, even though they frequently need to cooperate in order to promote our own welfare. However, raising your activity level and focusing on your physical health can actually enhance your mental health. Poor mental health can sap all of your energy and prevent you from working on your physical health. Word Count: 744.

Did you use the point-by-point or block method to organize your body paragraphs? What made you decide to organize your essay in this way? To define mental and physical health, I used the block method for my essay, but to mention ways of treating them, I chose to use the point-by-point method. The block method style might seem a bit difficult to use for many people because there is so much space between points about A and points about B. However, it helped me to organize my paper. On the other hand, by using the point-by-point method, I made sure to compare and contrast both subjects by focusing on exercise and adding many other points at the same time. Both of the methods helped to write my assignment effectively and present my points in an understandable manner. In what ways did writing a comparison/contrast essay differ from the Narrative essay you wrote in Touchstone 17? A narrative essay differs from a compare and contrast essay in that it is written from a specific point of view. A compare and contrast essay, on the other hand, contrasts two items, and the comparison should focus on the most crucial aspect in an unbiased way. Contrary to the previous assignment, where I was not required to compose a thesis sentence, this essay required me to do so. In narrative essays, the information is provided in the form of facts and descriptions of the pertinent events. Remember that the writing process is a recursive process, and your first draft of an essay is rarely your last. What part of the draft did you struggle with? I struggled to choose a topic for my essay because I had so many ideas; then, writing an effective introduction was difficult for me because I had to pick a topic that is underrated in this world and write an introduction that will impress my readers while
not boring them. For me, writing the body paragraph was not difficult, so it took less time to complete.
