Assignment: Exploring Digital Design Theory DIGI-QUAL: Exploring Digital Design Theory Capella University XXX_7868 – Qualitative Design and Analysis Dr. Elissa Dawkins Fall, 2023
Assignment: Exploring Digital Design Theory Digital Design Theory The Digital Design Theory explores the influence of digital technologies on social, economic, cultural, and political aspects of society. It emphasizes the complex relationship between digital technologies and pre-existing social structures, emphasizing personal liberty and rights. The theory also highlights the role of digital influencers in marketing strategies and the risks and opportunities of digitalization. It highlights the radical changes in young people's lives due to digitalization, including increased fragmentation and individualization, and the significant role of digital marketing in shaping social attitudes. Critical Elements of the Digital Design Theory The Digital Design Theory examines the effects of digital technologies on society, focusing on youth and senior citizens. It acknowledges the early adoption of digital communication, raises concerns about social interactions, and highlights potential adverse effects like sleep deprivation, depression, bias, privacy concerns, and data manipulation (Makridis & Mishra, 2022). Generational Differences: The hypothesis acknowledges that generations differ in technological competence and digital tool use. Younger generations may use cell phones and social media better than older generations (less exposed to technology) (Prasetyo & Setyadharma, 2022). Multiple Psychosocial Issues Influencing Digital Technology Use: The hypothesis acknowledges that older persons face many psychosocial challenges—examples: self- efficacy, perceived usability, and online community usefulness. Occupation, social
Assignment: Exploring Digital Design Theory background, education, motives, comfort, and technological trust can affect older individuals' digital technology adoption and use (Zhang et al., 2022). Digital Design Theory Supports Research New digital technologies have disrupted society. This theory claims that the internet and cell phones have transformed virtual culture and traditional governance worldwide (Ferdiansyah et al., 2020). This theory also emphasizes how digital advances have changed society, the economy, culture, and lifestyles. Digital technology has permeated employment, school, and social life (Modili et al., 2022). Understanding modern technical principles like connection, interaction, and access assists in clarifying how digital technologies affect society. Collaboration, participation, and independence increase with global communication and information exchange. Digital Design Theory proposes a new 'network' or 'information' age after the industrial age (Chamberlain & Lyons, 2021). According to this theory, digital breakthroughs have changed cultural forms and power structures, resulting in difficulties in interpersonal contact, involvement, and ethical digital technology use. Practical Implications of the Research Outcomes The digital design theory explores the influence of digital technologies on social phenomena and societal interactions. It emphasizes the transformative power of these technologies, their principles of connectivity, interactivity, and access, and their societal consequences. The theory also acknowledges intergenerational differences and the role of age in technology use (Chamberlain & Lyons, 2021). The study examines the influence of social media on communication, power structures, cultural understanding, healthcare outcomes, and traditional government governance processes, focusing on the qualitative aspects of digital technology, its impact on societal power structures, and its transformation ( Kärnä et al., 2022).

Assignment: Exploring Digital Design Theory Contributions to the Qualitative Research Knowledge Base The Digital Design Theory examines the impact of digital media and technology on various aspects of society, including learning, work, entertainment, communication, and information exchange. It provides insights into how individuals and communities interact with digital technologies, shaping their experiences and behaviors. The theory also highlights societal-level changes by digital technologies, such as the shift from the industrial era to the information age. The theory is as follows: Technology and digital media affect labor, education, communication, and fun. Modern students use Facebook, X, and Instagram for information and communication. Technology-dependent cultures have led to inspiring, engaging, relevant, and transparent educational environments (Ngcamu , 2020). The Digital Design Theory views digital technology as disruptive societal changes rather than just information exchange or empowerment tools (Chamberlain & Lyons, 2021). According to the digital design theory, digital technologies like information and communication technology affect social phenomena and connections. Recognizing digital technologies' revolutionary potential and impact on society emphasizes the necessity to study and understand their real-world consequences for stakeholders like individuals, communities, and institutions. The idea stresses understanding the three digital age principles of connectivity, interactivity, and access and how TV, the Internet, and smartphones enable communication and information exchange. It also recognizes intergenerational disparities and age-related technology skills. Examples include studying how social media platforms have changed communication patterns, how digital networks affect cultural forms, how technological advances affect
