To: Dr. Mackinnon From: Krisha Shah Re: Final Memo Topic Date: October 25, 2022 Global Warming The severity of the problems that rise from global warming has raised much attention recently. Awareness has been brought to the issue of global warming as there have been serious alterations to the environment and multitudes of health crises forming. The past few years, many legislations were called to actions and people protested for the protection of the Earth. Joe Biden has also pushed to attack the climate change crisis through the signing of the Inflation Reduction Act. Some aspects of the Inflation Reduction Act included a nationwide program to reduce methane emissions, ramp up solar and wind power through billions of dollars for clean energy tax credits, and jumpstarting adoptions of electric vehicles through tax incentives. There are many indications set out by the Environmental Protection Agency that the rising levels of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases are linked to rising temperatures, shifting rainfall patterns and extreme climate changes. For the Final Memo I will examine the effects of the Inflation Reduction Act and what changes are being made in the United States because of the passing of the bill. I will compare the Inflation Reduction Act to previous legislations that have been passed in efforts of protecting the environment and seeing how successful it turns out to be. In addition, I will be looking at studies and seeing the rate at which climate change is occurring at and how the legislation will impact it. Researching and reading papers with the change of climate change and different legislations around the world will help me discover the current nature of the issue and make an informed decision on the best solution for America.
