Regional vs. National Housing Price Comparison Report 1 Report: Regional vs. National Housing Price Comparison Jasmine Swiger Southern New Hampshire University
Regional vs. National Housing Price Comparison Report 2 Introduction Region : I choose the West South-Central region. Purpose : My purpose of this report is to determine if my region (West South-Central) housing prices and housing square footage are significantly different than house prices and housing square footage of the National Market. Sample : My random sample of 500 houses for sale in my region included States, Counties, The region I chose, Housing list price, Cost per square footage, Square Foot. Questions and type of test: My first hypothesis was to test if the West South-Central region was less than or equal to the National Market Average. My first hypothesis shows that there is evidence that the West South-Central region is lower than the National Average. My first hypothesis I used a 1-Tail test. My second hypothesis I was testing to see if the regional average square footage is different. My second hypothesis shows evidence that average listing price in West South-Central is lower than the National average. My second hypothesis I used a 2-Tail test. Level of confidence: The 95% confidence is for the square footage, plus of minus the margin of error. 1-Tail Test Hypothesis: My first hypothesis was to show if my region was less than or equal to the national average.
Regional vs. National Housing Price Comparison Report 3 Hypothesis: Q1 NULL H0: u=288,407 mean listing price in wsr is equal to national average ALT H1: u < 288,407 mean listing price in wsr is less than level of significance = 0.05 test statistic -$20.24 P-value 0.000000 Conclusion: since p-value is less than level of significance we will reject null hypothesis Interpretation: Evidence average listing price is W.S.C is lower than nation average listing price Hypothesis: My level of significance is 0.05. Regional vs. National Housing Price Comparison Report 4 Data analysis: price national WSC size 500 mean 288,407 $223,69 5 median 249,940 $211,30 0 stddev 172,779 71,502 Q1 182,725 169950 Q3 334,640 270175 Data analysis: Both square footage and listing price histograms from my region were skewed to the left. The National listing price is also skewed to the left but for the national footage it was more centered. Data analysis: Looking at both of my histograms through the central theorem I wouldn’t say they met normal distribution, as they are both skewed to the left. I think to do a more accurate test we would need to compare all the regions. Hypothesis Test Calculations: test statistic -$20.24

Data Analysis: If I wear to decide normal distribution by looking at the histogram I would say it does not fall under the normal distribution range as most of my data is on the left. Regional vs. National Housing Price Comparison Report 7 upper bound 2,058 confidence interval 2,007-2,058 95% confident that the average sq footage in W.S.C region is between 2,007 and 2,058 Final Conclusions Summarize Your Findings: I found that within my sample of 500 My regions listing prices was lower than the national average, but my regions square footage was higher than the national average. I believe this could be because my findings were from a random sample of 500 for only one region, versus the national region including all data. Discuss : I was surprised to see both of my histograms were left skewed, as compared to the national averages.
