Economics Section 1 of Chapter 10 covers the monopolistic competitor; one tool that firms have in this market structure is advertising. For this discussion, your task is to (answer all of the following): 1. Think about and describe a real-world advertising campaign that you have witnessed. If available, please share the campaign ad in your post (YouTube link, Image, etc.). Make sure ad complies with student code of conduct. 2. Describe the types of media this campaign used. 3. Describe how this campaign meant to differentiate the firm’s product from others? In your opinion, was it effective? Why or why not? In short words, monopolistic competition is basically when two companies have similar products and both are always trying to see which is better. As a PepsiCo employee I always see advertising campaigns all the time, and as one would know, Pepsi's number one rival is Coca- Cola. Though both have a world-wide presence, Pepsi is seen major events like the Super Bowl in the United States, Champions League in Europe, and in the World Cup. A couple of years ago I saw an advertisement of a young child using a vending machine, the child bought two coke cans as a step stool in order to reach a Pepsi can. This shows how Pepsi was able to belittled Coca-Cola, and reveal that Pepsi is unique, no one is as the same level them, and that Coca-Cola is like any other coke out there. The beginning gets you to think its a Coke advertisement but then there is a twist, so I would say that the advertisement did a very good job in differentiating both products. https://youtu.be/GyY15Jkkg2A?si=PirF1mxcPgqyoYcu
