Economics Section 1 of Chapter 10 covers the monopolistic competitor; one tool that firms have in this market structure is advertising. For this discussion, your task is to (answer all of the following): 1. Think about and describe a real-world advertising campaign that you have witnessed. If available, please share the campaign ad in your post (YouTube link, Image, etc.). Make sure ad complies with student code of conduct. 2. Describe the types of media this campaign used. 3. Describe how this campaign meant to differentiate the firm’s product from others? In your opinion, was it effective? Why or why not? Starbucks is a real-world advertising campaign that I frequently witness. The company has grown into a famous brand known for its superior coffee goods and exceptional customer service as a result of its inventive marketing approach. Starbucks's advertising and branding campaigns are easily identifiable due to the diversity of marketing tactics they employ and stand out due to the consistent message they portray. “Starbucks, the most popular of all coffee chains, has a global presence in over 65 countries, while Costa Coffee, the best coffee company in Europe, ranks second in the world behind Starbucks. The two internationally renowned coffee chains both sell the same commodity, 'coffee,' but the coffee is different at both locations. The quality of coffee, customer service, and costs all make a difference. Both coffee shops are in good shape and are vying to provide superior products and services. However, coffee is not only offered by Starbucks or Costa; there are numerous other large worldwide coffee shops, such as McDonald's, Dunkin Donuts, Dutch Bros Coffee, and others.” (Agarwal, 2023). Starbucks employs social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and others. Starbucks' social media approach is unusual since it is based on user feedback. In my perspective, Starbucks was effective because, as previously stated, it is the most popular of all coffee chains, regardless of price.
