I first started by ensuring that the devices were inserted into their correct network sections. I then accessed the VLAN Database on the switch and set up a VLAN for both the Guest and Video sections. I set the Guest VLAN as 70 and the Video VLAN as 80. After that, I went into the router’s wireless settings and changed the IP address to 192.168.70.10. I then set the maximum number of users to 70, set the router to DHCP, and disabled the authentication for the wireless connection. To set up the video connections I first connected the lobby camera to the Fa0/2 port and the door camera to the Fa0/3 port on the switch. I then went into the switch and configured these ports for the VLAN 80. I then set the lobby camera IP address to 192.168.80.100 and the door camera IP address to 192.168.80.101.
As I was considering the scalability of the guest network, I determined that for the department of motor vehicles, 70 guests should be an appropriate number of addresses. I also believe that they shouldn’t be there longer than 4 hours, meaning they shouldn’t be connected to the guest network for that long.
