The act of gambling and video gaming addictions fall under the same addictive disorder and esports betting are more problematic among the younger generations. b. Esports and sports betting are similar with the observation of the gamer or athlete, and analyzing the skill and knowledge of the player. The level of knowledge of the esports/sports viewer makes them believe that with their knowledge of the game increases their chance of a successful gambling bet. It is just like tracking the stats of your favorite athlete. c. The mental health effects of gambling and esports gambling can lead to depression, anxiety, impaired sleep, substance use, and aggression. d. The video game community has created their own type of currency buying loot boxes to get rare game items or in-game currency 4. At least three questions you have about this topic and how it might impact the future of our society: a. Has Covid-19 contributed to the increase of popularity of video games, video game betting, and the mental health effects with the increased isolation of social interactions? b. Should there be more parental control of younger children playing video games or with their access to the internet? c. Why are there not more studies comparing the relationship of mental health and esports betting? d. How much will the market of esports grow with the increase of technology and the popularity of gaming? e. Why are adolescents at higher risk for esport betting? Who’s money are using or do their parents/guardians support the act of esports betting?

Do you think you have any biases toward a certain perspective on it? How will you try to minimize your own biases as you conduct research? Did you find it difficult to find a source or come up with facts and questions about your topic or to think about how this topic relates to the future? I chose the future of esports because I myself am a gamer, and the increase of popularity of streaming has always been interesting to me. Some of the popular streamers/professional video game players have made millions of dollars just to play a game. I don’t think I have any bias towards the topic of esports due to the games I enjoy are not a part of the competitive type. I personally enjoy open world games with a great story, but maybe there is some unconscious bias due to the fact that I enjoy gaming and occasionally view streamers on their impressive plays. To minimize my bias on the topic I will keep an open mind on what I think or want the future of esports to be and take into account what the facts of my research articles state. One of the big reasons I chose this was to explore the plan of the esports society, will they try to incorporate themselves as athletes? Are the eolympics next? However, in my research on the future of esports I feel this topic could be difficult to pinpoint a single subject to focus on. Whether it be the focus on the effects of esport betting, are esports really sports with no physical demand on the body, and should gaming professionals be getting paid as much as they do to play a video game? The article I chose was difficult for me to find facts and questions, the article had a topic but they seemed very vague on what age group the esports betting actually affected and how the mental health was affected through esports. To relate this topic to the future I wanted to discuss and research the plan for esports and their athletes as a whole.
