CIT 270: Hands-On Projects Choose one hands-on project at the end of the module (or chapter). Complete it. Fill out the following template. Then upload this document to I-Learn Canvas for your Hands-On Project submission. Project Module and Number (1pts) Project 14-2: Viewing and Changing the Backup Archive Bit Key words and Definitions (3pts) 1. Cold site - A business location that would be used in the event of a disaster that would render the main site inoperable. 2. Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) – A power source that will provide continual power to the system, even if the main supply of power fails. 3. Redundancy – The practice of ensuring that the same piece of data exists multiple places in order to prevent data loss. Redundancy can also be used in other areas, like ensuring power is continually supplied to a system via redundant power supplies. Key takeaways, or: What did you learn? (4pts) Finding and viewing the archive bit could be important to ensure that the most up-to-date version of a file is backed up. It could also be used if you don’t want the most up-to-date version of your files to be backed up. For example, if a virus gets on your computer and lays dormant for a week, you’ll want to use a backup from 2 weeks go. Viewing the backup archive bit could ensure that you are using files that weren’t updated after the virus was on the computer. That’s only one of the ways the skills in this hands-on project could be beneficial.
