Assignment 1
Introduction (second page)
I am a 27 year old female who uses the pronouns she/her. I am coming in for
my first counselling session to address feelings of anxiety that have been worsening over the course of my life. I have no children and work full-time. I have been in a healthy and stable relationship for over 12 years and have strong relationships with my mother and one sibling, although I recall my childhood being challenging. My mother’s parenting growing up confused me
– she was very nurturing and worked hard to create a good life for me and my brother, yet she was very strict and limited our social interactions with others. My father started to struggle with substance abuse and addiction during my early teens and continues to have these challenges. I have experienced anxious tendencies for most of my life, but my father’s declining
health has caused these tendencies to dramatically increase. I am constantly
catastrophizing scenarios involving myself and my family and having difficulty sleeping. Additionally, I feel fatigued and restless while my desire to
be in control is negatively affecting my relationship with my partner. The goal of this overview is to describe my insights from my first counselling session, focusing on the psychological and biological factors that may be maintaining and contributing to my anxiety. Introduce the primary focus in a concise presentation (your story as the client), one page, in which you will apply the framework. conceptualize about life experiences multi-
theoretically, from a biopsychological framework.
