Dissuasion Post Week 1 Hello everyone. I am Kelli Ann. I am a 34-year-old single momma to a wild and crazy five- year-old, but he is the light of my life and my reason for everything. I am also the full-time caregiver to my mother. We are from the Northern Nevada, Lake Tahoe Area. I am pursuing an education in Psychology with a concentration on addiction. I have been in recovery for almost five years, and going back to school was a decision I had put off for so long, so I'm so grateful to be able to participate in my education today. Studying history can be incredibly valuable for people of all ages and backgrounds. Studying the past can help us understand the present and learn from past successes and failures, as well as give us a better perspective of the world around us, helping to develop critical thinking skills and helping us to use them effectively. We can learn from many past mistakes and successes , allowing us to make better decisions and contribute to a brighter future. Studying history can help us shape our identity and learn about our heritage by exploring the stories of our ancestors and the events that shaped them. Our history can help us define who we are and where we come from. We can better understand our historical background by exploring our family history and historical events. And lastly, studying History can ensure that moments or events over time aren’t forgotten. COVID feels like a past, present, and issue that will be ongoing, which is so timely. I currently have COVID and am fighting through the fog this week. When the pandemic hit, we did not have the information or medical necessities to fight the virus. Today, after a few years of research, they have been able to come up with medications, treatments, etc, that can help to comfort patients when they are positive and hopefully slow the rate of death. The COVID pandemic has changed the world we live in so many ways. Before the pandemic, it was strange to see an individual wearing a mask; now, people wear all different kinds and colors for simple precaution. Travel restrictions are a little stricter; in some areas, a negative COVID test is required within 72 hours of the trip. Work and school policies have also changed, allowing leeway to work from home if necessary or enroll online. Our medical providers now offer telemedicine, allowing us to see them from the comfort of our homes and keep them safe. The shift in society from COVID has allowed for an ease of access for society that we may not have had before, but also, at the same time, tighter restrictions in some areas. Looking back, we can see a clear point with the pandemic when virtual life began.
