Measurable Objective
Students will complete the experiment and answer the questions to the summative assessment with 90% accuracy. Materials and Technology

Language Function: Students will rotate between each station and determine what materials are trasnparent. Vocabulary:
Transparent, Opaque, observe, reflective, predict.
Discourse and/or syntax: Students will turn to their elbow partners and make predictions on the different materials and how the light transfers through them. Planned Language Support: With the students, we will create an anchor chart for the vocabulary words for them to refer to during the lesson/experiment.

The teacher will ask the students to help with making an anchor chart for them to have during the experiment. Students will follow along with the video. Students will participate in whole class discussions and answer questions.

Have you ever been to a game and someone stood in front of you? Have you ever wondered how mirrors
work? Do you have glass doors at your house? The teacher will ask students to give her an example of something translucent The teacher will ask a different student to give her an example of something that is transparent The teacher will then ask another student to give an example of Opaque

Student Action The teacher will pass out a prediction
worksheet and ask the students to get with their elbow partner. The teacher will display the worksheet on the smartboard. The teacher will answer any question
the students have. Students will work together with their partners to complete the prediction worksheet. Students will participate with questions about the experiments while they complete the worksheet.

Independent Student Practice
Activity Description/ Teacher
Student Action The teacher will break the students up into groups of 4 and assign them a station to start at. The teacher will start a timer on the board so that the students will know when you rotate to the next stations.
The students will do the experiments and discuss the findings with their groups. Students will listen for their names and go
into their groups. Students will test out the materials against the flashlights and write down their findings and discuss with their group. Closing Procedure or Activity Activity Description/ Teacher

I will also assist them with filling out their worksheet.
Formative Assessment I will observe my students during the independent practice time and how they participate in whole group discussions using the right vocabulary words. Summative Assessment I will use the worksheet from their chromebooks from closing activity for the summative
