Reflection video 1 We saw various teachers teaching their students using multiple methods throughout the video. Art-based learning was not introduced in my country's schools, so I was relatively unaware of art-based learning methods. This video has taught me that a small group of instruction is essential for meeting needs; many children have needs, and we must understand what they require. Arts-based learning is incorporated into the school curriculum because children are easily distracted, but their focus remains intact when they learn from things they enjoy and through pictures. The teacher attempted to capture the attention of the first group of students by introducing them to the author of the book and his previous work, which they had read. She also introduced similar and familiar characters from the book that they had previously discussed. The similarity between the characters assisted the children in becoming acquainted with the reading material, which helped them in becoming more engaged with the teacher and the material they were reading. She also asked the students if they needed any assistance reading the material. Students who knew how to read went off to read on their own. Those who required assistance from the teacher, on the other hand, remained behind. At the end of the study, she regrouped them and discussed the material with the children to determine whether all the students who did not receive assistance could read. 1
The next teacher drew the students' attention by showing them a picture and asking them to describe what it was about; to achieve her goal, she made sure to assist each student and convey the importance of looking at each word when reading. She also drew attention by concealing a difficult word and allowing them to guess what the word was about and how it fits the context. She aided children in developing critical thinking skills by doing so. Another teacher assists the students through guided reading. The teacher handed them a book and instructed them to read it aloud while correcting them if they made mistakes. This method assisted the teacher in determining how well the students were doing. We should not group students based on ability, but a homogeneous grouping of children is critical. I want to learn more about how we can effectively capture children's attention and teach all children so that no child is left behind. 2
