Individual Reflective Essay

Introduction
In this study, the process of transition is discussed in the involvement of management.
It includes the implementation of changes via systemic plans, organization and
implementation of changes for reaching desired goals without harming the continuation of
business during the change process. This process of changes begins long before actual
changes are going to happen while senior management team plays major roles to support the
overall process during the change (Clausen,
et al.
2020). In the process of transition, all
stakeholders indirectly or directly are entangled in the process and plays vital roles. The
purpose of the process is to change, control, and help people to adapt to changes.
Clarifying barriers in professional transition
According to surveys, the transition rate of changes initiates in organizations is below
54%. In majority of the time, companies have to deal with the extra expenses associated with
poor “change-management skills”. The crucial barriers to transition process are as follows:
1. Miscalculating the complex process
Complicated issues can introduce unforeseen challenges and barriers. At times, it
might be tough to deal with similar situations. As a result, without having no experience to
deal with them or not getting the proper guidance or technique, it becomes hard to deal with
(Faraz, 2019).
2. Lack of knowledge
Each transition management strategy highlights the significance of communication
and planning. Leaders should involve individuals to keep them consigned with new concepts.
3. Lack of responsibility

Managers, employees and workers must be motivated to partake in the transition
procedure. This will make them feel accountable for the outcome.
4. Problematic organization system
There should be a system that allows every worker to follow at every level of the
hierarchy. This structure helps in decision making taking steps during challenges an
organisation faces (Daliri,
et al.
2019).
5. Lack of support
Sometimes managers feel intimidated by corporate changes. Because they want to
defend their positions. They do not listen to their subordinates and do not support them at all.
6. Lack of teamwork
Leaders may produce teams with different divisions and add team leaders in
institutional goals. To create two-way leadership skills, they need to practice management
modules.
Evaluation of professional transition process
While an individual seamlessly changes their career path while others fail to do so and
get stuck in their career forever. So, how an individual change their career, E.g. A teacher
becomes businessman or actor. This study is to shed light on the deep understanding of this
phenomenon. Considering how the career evolves , it is important to know the changes in
definition of career from the conventional than traditional perspective. It became apparent via
exploring the various intentions. Time and transforming career environment plays a
significant role in recreating the meanings. Profession is a set of activities, events, decisions
and experiences that happen with an employee’s work life. Traditionally profession careers or

professions were connected with single employment in a single company for the rest of their
life in upward progression. Now, the concept of profession has changed over the course of
time, and are applicable for all workplaces. Careers have grown in terms of stagnancy,
boundary and transitory professions (Šverko & Babarović, 2019).
The new conception of the profession is now interconnected with one individual’s life
journey. A career is a consistent life’s part. It revolves around work, and it provides a sense of
purpose, challenge, self-fulfilment and social connections. A career is not only a means of
survival, but it is also a source of creativity, life, and identity. Although these are problems
and very essential and seems to provide just superficial data about career transition
perspectives. The transition progress starts where a worker is triggered by a happening or the
absence of something happening. This action is aspect of the presence of a trigger which
contains the never-ending variable intensity.
In accords with a theory, it is obvious that there are different personalities exist in the
world. Although six of them are theorised, and success and fulfilment in career depends on
how an individual fits for the specific requirements of a job. There are various personalities,
diverse jobs, and it matters how closer the match is among the personality and their chosen
job, and this decides how the happier the related person is with their job.
The concept of profession as in adaptable, without boundary and portfolio professions
cannot be conceptualized between separate cultures. Aspects like dictatorship vs
independence, centralisation vs decentralisation, and self-management vs unified
management. And hierarchical configurations seems to change between cultures and affect
the judgments about professional transitions (Steindórsdóttir
et al.
2022).
The question of barriers of career transition is how they think as per their concepts
and what they want to be instead of working as a trigger of change (Campion, 2018). An

investigation was done on eight females exploring about barriers when it evolves into a
barrier. It was found that typically the standpoint of an individual which creates the difference
between an impossible obstacle and the one which can be conquered. Unconquerable barriers
were described as the ones that has stopped the individual from performing their wants,
requirements or significances of personal dilation. Nevertheless, in distinction, it is found that
no barrier is unconquerable. When an individual is determined sufficiently, they can
overpower anything that is obstacle in their path of profession.
The concept of the driving forces of a career which are important for the study on
what individuals considers when they face their career decisions. The components of a
profession are talents and abilities, basic values, self-concept, independence or autonomy,
security and stability, creativity, challenges, lifestyle and others.
In disparity to the support and improvements, a few abnormalities in the structure of
facts that does not sustain the outcomes are found. One of such exceptions is age, which is a
trigger for shift. To conclude, age plays a significant role in initiating transition, specifically
for the middle-aged psychological phenomenon (Tonne,
et al.
2019). Regardless, this study
uncovered that none of the eight participants mentioned or referred to their age during the
transition process. In fact, the eight participants are scattered between three diverse
generations. So then a hypothesis can be produced for this study that, age is definitely not a
aspect to confine profession change. Similarly, it is told that individuals between the same
generation cluster are meant to share an identical “peer personality”, and will therefore
respond likewise to particular stimuli. However, this investigation has found that all the
above mentioned participants have experienced the same transition methodology, regardless
of their profile of generation.

During this study, I learnt about the professional transition of management industry through
collective data collection from industries that has experienced with various professional
transitions. I have spoken to several individuals of different ages. Meeting managers or
joining online classes of reputed industries to learn about the barriers they face during a
career transition. I have also observed how an individual’s growth affects a community.
After completing the assignment, I feel that the individuals go through such career transition.
Before learning the concept of professional transition, I used to believe the traditional growth
of an individual’s career. I came across the facts and factors that shake the fundamentals of
the theory that professional transition is obscure. But after completion of the assignment, I
certainly do understand that this is really important for an individual to go through for their
individual growth (Jones,
et al.
2022).
Now it is clear to me that the transitions are important part of an individual’s growth.
It is how they realise their potential. Age is also a factor that plays a major role in the process
of professional transition. Personal agendas of the people also play an important role in the
procedure. Their needs and desires decide what they are fit for. Everyone is fit for something,
and through proper support, they can achieve beyond their imagination.
In the importance of job search process, the resume helps because the potentials are
properly described and tallies with the experiences. Also writing about themselves that
accurately represents oneself in a positive manner. The following is a way is t6o brainstorm
the accomplishments to state in one’s resume (Hirano,
et al.
2018).
I have learnt that choosing a career is never late. It is an important part of life to
participate in such drifts in career. I will use the learnings in my career transition if applicable
in or between the career and reflect the activities that are helpful in terms of transformational
to approach for the next level in development of my career.

Transition theory for Week 2
As per Schlossberg’s theory, I am trying to define my professional transition in this
study.
Situation
In the times of final year of my studies, I was thinking about choosing the right career
path for m,y future. As the majority thinks, it was obvious for me to think straight way but
too many options are running on my mind I did not know which one to focus on. I had
participated in some workshops and career counselling activities to better know my potentials
but I became more confused (Donald,
et al.
2018).
Then I tried to write down my
expectations from my career which helped me to proceed further.
Self-factors
The personal demographics helped me to understand the characteristics how the views
affects the mind-set and socioeconomic status. I have done this assessment to better
understand the transitions keeping in mind about the psychological and commitment values.
Support
In this assessment, I have taken help from my friends and family. I also spoke to my
seniors in university and the people who have gone through professional transition earlier or
later irrespective of age.
Strategies
I have evaluated the situation and focused on current scenario. I have understood the
problems that I may face during this phase. After completing this assessment I have managed

my stress about the same and prepared for the aftermath aids that will help me proceed in the
correct path (Magnano
et al.
2021).
Conclusion
Transition in profession is life periods that gives us time to think about new
opportunities for creativity and learnings. While enjoying the freedom, we also reinvent
ourselves. This allows us to self-reflect and plan for our future. If an individual is in transition
phase, they must know they are not alone and it is completely fine. Because it is an important
phase that essentially helps to self-evaluate and rebrand a job role.
