MBA 540: Discussion IX/X Provide a brief overview of the company you have chosen for your project; where is it headquartered, and what are the services or products it provides? Pick an aspect of the Fourth IR (advances in artificial intelligence, robotics, the Internet of Things, 3D printing, genetic engineering, quantum computing, or another technology).  How could this impact a company's strategic planning?  Specifically, how could this aspect play a role in your company's strategic planning?  What are two dangers of this aspect of the Fourth IR within your company? I chose Toyota Motor Corp as my company for the course project. Toyota Motor Corp. is a market leader with a history of manufacturing excellent and innovative automakers. Toyota Motor Corp. was established in Japan on Aug. 28, 1937, as Toyota Motors Industry Co., Ltd. The name was adopted in July 1982 due to the merger with Toyota Motors Sales Co., Ltd (Merget Online, 2023). Their global headquarters is in Toyota City, Aichi, Japan. Today, Toyota Motor Corp. is a worldwide leader in the automotive industry with its famous brands, including Lexus, Daihatsu, Hino, and Toyota. They have manufacturing facilities across five continents: North America, South America, Asia, Europe, and Africa. They employ approximately 375,000 workers globally to maintain the high demand for Toyota products. Additionally, Toyota offers financial services that include consumer lending and corporate lease plans. In today's ever-changing economy, technology is becoming increasingly advanced and valuable in almost every industry. Integrating AI into Toyota products would increase vehicle capabilities beyond their current levels. Just like Tesla, Toyota would have the ability to add features like total autonomous driving or the capacity to teach AI to detect life-threatening health vitals and alert emergency services. Also, AI could aid engineers in developing a more robust drive train by pinpointing the precise tolerances and necessary specs to build high-output but reliable energy and low-emission vehicles. However, there is a looming controversy between AI and the ongoing global cyber-attacks by criminals. Imagine a customer's onboard computer being hacked, the car going on chaotic road rage, or someone's identity stolen. Another problem is AI's ability to self-learn, possibly making the wrong decision and taking human life. Unfortunately, AI is still in the infancy stages and requires more years of research to decrease the occurrences of cyber-attacks. However, as Toyota Motor Corp. continues to conduct R&D and analysis methods of AI integration, their engineers will have the opportunity to develop processes to utilize AI in every Toyota product.
