SPCE691 Student Participation Evidence Tracking Form
Instructions: You will use this form throughout the course to track your participation in the course and link that participation to your learning.
You will turn in this form twice during the term (mid-term and final). You can bullet content if that is more efficient for you. The goal is for you
to connect your actual engagement in the course with your learning outcomes. In column 2, you simply list the number of documents you
reviewed (e.g., watched videos, completed PSIs, read articles) and the assignments you submitted. You should know that your instructor can
see your level of participation in Canvas (including pages opened) so it is against your best interest to embellish your participation.
In column 3, you identify whether you posted on the community thread and/or if you attended office hours. In the final column, you list what
you learned by engaging in the course (or not engaging fully in the course) for each module. For example, you might state that you did not
appreciate how relevant diversity was to being a good supervisor before watching a video or reading an article. Conversely, you might write
something like, “I had a lot going on at work and did not participate in the course much during this module. I learned that I will need to juggle
things differently in upcoming modules so that I get the most out of this course. Note: Acknowledging that you did not perfectly participate
each week only results in point loss if the participation in the course is repeatedly low during the term.
Finally, you are welcome to add any comments you want your instructor to consider at the end of the document. For example, you might say
that you participated but still struggle to see a link between an assignment and being a supervisor or that you repeatedly struggled to participate
a few modules in a row because of a specific struggle that you have worked to overcome. This also serves as an opportunity for you to self-
advocate for strong participation scores. Great supervisors must be great advocates, for their staff and for themselves.
